I'd work on that price a bit if you are very serious. You can get a new Lariat for 32k. The dealer markup on that truck is probably 5-8 grand if not more and I don't think that lift is worth that kind of premium. You would also be starting over on a new loan, front loaded with interest. From a financial perspective, it's not a wise purchase. Over the life of the loan you will be paying more, plus higher interest since it's a used vehicle. If you combine the premium price of that truck plus the higher cost of the new loan, you could have bought ten lifts. I'd stay put. You bought your truck new, you know the history, and it's in your driveway now. I wouldn't buy someone else's work. Put your love and money into your truck. Your pride will be much greater knowing you hand selected and installed the parts yourself and built it the way you want it, not how someone else wanted it. Plus, your truck looks AWESOME!!!

I think you're right! I might just go with some wheels and tires and leave it at that for a while. Then if I'm not satisfied, I'll save up for a lift. What wheels do you guys suggest? I am thinking someting like Moto Metals 951's or 950's in chrome. I really like and think some black Helo Maxx 6's would look good but don't know if it would work with my chrome nerf bars. I think my idea of buying 18's since I already have them stock and keeping the stock tires until they run out is the best plan but there are so many more options with 17's. I really like BFG M/T's for their aggressive look and capabilities on and off road. They are probably the best wearing M/T in my opinion but I don't want to go 35's unless I lift the truck. Suggestions?

Let's do some math here:

Say you financed 30,000 @ 6% for your current 04. We will assume that you have made 24 payments on the truck.

Base payment 579.78
Total you have paid in interest charges 2683.89 (24 months)
Total you owe on the truck 20,504.23

So now the dealer will give you 20,500 for your 04 or they will give you 14-6,000 and roll the rest into the new loan. Now you will pay more interest.

So the 60 payment cycles start over and after you make the last payment (if you can resist trading it in sooner) then you will have paid a total of 7482.93 of interest.

It's not worth the extra money you spend in the long run.

Now here is what I would consider a sweet deal. Let's use the above senario. You owe 20,500 for your 04 truck. The dealer is willing to sell you the 05 Lariat for 22-3k and give you 20,500 for the 04. In this senario you could get a 48 month loan and minimalize your losses in the 04 FX4.
The only downside is this is about as likely to happen as my poop turning into gold.

It's late and I might now be making complete sense but that is my .02 worth.

I like the blackened rims for sure. You were asking for other suggestions and I have two. You may or may not like them but I'll tell you anyway. I have the same Grey and did it to mine.
1) remove FX4 stickers for a cleaner look
2) Paint chrome F150 badges flat grey to match. I think you said you don't like chrome. My local paint dealer matched the factory Ford grey in a spay can for about $14. I like it and others do too.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have been thinking about removing the FX4 stickers and I kinda want to clear my headlights by taking out the orange corner but don't know how. I do like chrome but I was wondering if the chrome nerf bars would look good with the black wheels. Keep the suggestions coming!

Been thinking more and looking. If I go black, I think I'll have to just get some Harley headlights too! My biggest dilemma is what size wheel. I think a good plan is to go with an 18" wheel since I already have tires for them and then save up for when I need new tires. However, I want an aggressive tire that is very street friendly. I would love to get BFG MT's but they don't make a 33 for 18's so that would make me want 17's. I also don't want them to stick out much. What should I do? Is there a tire with my requirements for 18's that I can save up for? Thanks in advance!
