I was about to ask this same question myself. YellowFX4SCrew, which adapter do you have? I'm looking at the .pdf application chart from your link, and it shows the FRDN/PC-POD adapter for 1998-2005 F150 with a 20 pin connector at the head unit, but in the notes it says "Not compatible with 2004 and up F150."

Quintin,

You'll want the FRD04-AUX from P.I.E. It is a good unit, hooks up to the RSE plug on the back of the radio. Then, you run an RCA-to-headphone jack cable to the iPod. Good set-up, and controls remain with iPod. The only other thing you'll have to consider is iPod power/recharging. I wired in an extra power port behind the dash and have a cigarette adapter charger always in there, with the other end able to hook up to the iPod, thus ensuring that your iPod is always charged/charging while in use in the truck.

And I suggest Logjam Electronics to buy it, if you choose to go with it. They have a one-year warranty on the product, regardless of what the manufacturer provides.

Hope that helps.

That P.I.E. unit is not the best if you're only interested in using an iPod. Look into peripheral electronics iPod2Car adapter. I think the website is www.ipod2car.com. I'm pretty sure they have a unit for our trucks or it is being released in the very near future. The good thing about the iPod2Car adapter is that you can control the iPod through the factory radio and it charges the iPod at the same time.

The only problem with those type of systems is their reliance on the speed of the HU, and the speed of the adapter. Plus, you don't get full use of all iPod functions. It's a hassle to look at the small screen of the iPod, yes, but once you get used to where all of your things are on it, it is by far faster than the iPod2Car could ever hope to be.

My part # is PIE FRD04-AUX.

Got it way back in Sept at Discount Car Stereo for $86. I've seen them lower since then.

I agree with the speed and use issues, but I just like the fact that you can hide the iPod away, and that it keeps it charged. I was looking into getting one but then Alpine came out with the Full Speed connectors for 2006. That thing is lightning fast and has great integration and searching, and better sound quality than could ever be expected out of the stock HU.

I think I'm gonna roll with the PIE adapter, just 'cause it seems like a lot of folks have 'em, and it's readily available. At this rate, between the CD6/MP3 head unit and an iPod, I'll never listen to the same song twice.

Since it came up...I have the PIE in the truck and a 2005 Alpine deck in the car. Both have their benefits and drawbacks. The PIE allows you to use the OEM headunit and the ipod in its simplest form. The Alpine allows you to fully control the ipod. I can't speak on the speed of the new Alpines, but the old one was a bit slow and also required an additional $100 box. The Alpine unit also charges the ipod as while it's connected, the PIE does not charge. Someday I'll upgrade the deck in the truck, but until then I can still use the ipod with the PIE. I got a cheap FM remote so I can jump tracks and pause if needed, it's clunky and works about 75% of the time. It's all in what you need, if you don't mind spending for the upgrade deck it's a better solution if you want full control. If you want to save some and learn to use playlists, go with the PIE. Either way you get tunes to boogie to.

I have an FM transmitter. Works fine for me and was only $20 but there is some static sometimes.

Get yourself the PIE adapter AND the Harman Kardon Drive + Play. It just doesnt get easier than that with an IPOD and stock radio.

It should, as it has a headphone jack. Plug that in to a RCA-to-headphone cable, and you're done.
