Help: Center Console Shifter

Okay guys so the cap on my shifter broke off. I'd just rather buy a new cap, can I? or do I need to buy the whole assembly? If so can you post a part number and price. Thank you!

How broke are you talking? I'm asuming that some glue won't do the trick?

The cap has two ears, one broke off inside of the shifter.

So couldn't you just glue the cap on top of the shifter? I know it'd be a little ghetto, but it should work. I'm not too familiar with the center shifter though, so maybe not.

Im pretty sure you could but the ears are so small that I really don't think it'd hold up. Im not going to be paying for it. So if its not that expensive, I'd just rather get a whole new cap, plus there are scratches on this one.

Maybe you could get it fix under warranty?

No problem buddy.
I was just thinking to myself that all my worthless posts are probably not helping.

I'll give you my cap from my old shifter. It's not broke but slightly scratched. I'll just give you it free of charge. The one I JB Welded on top of the LT shifter swap I did just popped off tonight too, sorta funny. It's pretty hard to get it on there good.

Can any of the Ford techs look up how much it costs?

I posted about this last week mine just broke to. FX4 got a exploded digram of it for me and it looks like you have to get the whole set-up. I'm waiting to hear back from the dealership about that.

Call the dealer's parts department and they can tell you over the phone in minutes, instead of waiting on someone to respond on here.

have you guys tried to get this fixed under warranty? IMO it's a bad design and they have to fix it. Mine has yet to fall off and this is the first time I have ever heard of the problem. I guess i'll have to settle down on stroking my shifter while I drive!

p.s. Thumper, I just noticed you live in Deland!! I lived in Deltona for 4 years MAN! that's where my dad still lives now.

I had called the local dealership and they told me I couldn't order it, and when I asked how much the whole assembly was, they told me I couldn't order that either. Now, I tried to call my 'regular' dealer and their phones are out or something, so that leaves me with this.

I would like the part numbers for the shifter too if somebody has them. I though I saw on here that it was like $10 for the whole shifter, but my dealership is telling me its over $200 just for the handle? What the deal? I even looked at their pictures and it looks like the right part.
