Installed Auto-Dim Mirror. HELP with temp reading.

I just installed a Gentex GNTX-177 auto diming mirror with compass and temperature read-out. When it got power to it the first time, the temperature readout displayed "SC". It continues to display that whenever the temperature display option is turned on.

Anyone have knowledge of these things that can offer me a clue as to what may be wrong?

Only thing I can think of is that SC means it needs some kind of calibration

The compass self calibrated on power up and works find. I have a copy of the Gentex installation and operating instructions. They say nothing about calibration for the temp.

"SC" may also be an acronym for "Short Circuit." Try rechecking your wiring to the temp sensor. It's also possible your sensor is faulty.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I have contacted the vendor from eBay. He sells a lot of these mirrors with homemade wiring harnesses included. He said "SC" is the error code for a short circuit. I am going to run a new harness to the sensor this evening and see what happens.

Thanks again!

Turns out "SC" does mean short circuit. I rewired the sensor harness and temp reading works fine. It was accurate with in two degrees.

Just in case anyone who does this mod needs to know for future reference, "OC" mean open circuit.

Thanks again for the input and help.
