Unhappy Bad test drive on 06 6.5 Crew

Well my wife and I went out to test drive a new 06 Larait 4x4 crew 6.5 truck. Very nice looking truck rides like a car. While we were driving down a flat road going 60 mph the truck started shaking. I kept the speed the same and it did it for at least 1/4 mile. The shaking was like the trans shifting funny. It shook the whole truck so bad that the wiper blades were moving up and down.. We than went down the road and turned around to drive the same path to see if its the road causing this. I drove the same road twice and could not get the truck to shake again. It was the strangest thing like the trans was going in and out of gear in rythem. I driven lot of diferent trucks this is not a wheel problem because I took it out on a differnt road and brought it up to 90 mph and road very smooth.

Has any one experanced this type of shaking on their trucks?

I sure hope this is fluke because I want to get a new ford truck but not this one truck.

Where do you live?

It sounds like the parking brake was stuck. .

It won't be. .

Theres been a few cases where the parking brake is stuck on, no light on the dash, but still stuck on and will cause this violent shake.

My best advice, RUN away from that particular truck and go find another 06.

We will look at another one saturday. The dealer we the did the test drive was very nice no pressure to buy today. And offered a great deal on it too. I found another dealer that has on of those 6.5 crew but it 60 mile away.

Could be a fluke, hard to know without driving it myself.

I saw a 6.5 screw today at a dealer. It was in that butterscotch looking color, I dont know the name, but it looked damn fine. Fully loaded truck to boot. Damn Ford for not offering this truck in 04, but oh well, mines just fine and I made a vow to hold out untill the next gen super dutys with the 6.4 diesels, so like 09 Ill be getting a new one.

i doubt it is that bad of a problem but I would look at another one. Make sure you test drive the one you want though. It is probably since it was a new truck that things are wearing in.

I had that happen to mine...05 4x4 Screw. I took it to the dealer and told them what I "thought" was happening after reading about it on here. They fixed it and called to tell me they had to replace the tire AND clean out the drum sine "I LEFT THE PARKING BRAKE ON".

Then I explained it to her again and told her that I didn't leave the brake on, but I thought the brake was still engaged even though I released it and the idiot light was not on. Anyway she did some more research and called me back and said it was covered under warranty.
