Dealership said it couldn't be done!
Hi, first post, new to F150, but not to Fords Learned a lot on this board so far!
I know this is kind of an old thread but seemed the best place to ask. I just purchased the 2007 F150 XLT SCREW. It has keyless entry but I really want the keypad in the handle. I went to fordparts.com and it shows me the changed part number like you see here:
http://tinyurl.com/28l8mb
The dealership parts guy said that it was just the handle with the keypad cutout (just the hole!) but not they keypad assembly and that it was an additional part. He printed off what he showed and I've scanned it and uploaded it here:
http://tinyurl.com/2b9qae
He said both parts would cost around $110.
I'm still not convinced there are two pieces unless the 2007 is different. The ones from the factory sure look like one piece.
Anyone here that works at Ford, or other person that knows for sure that can confirm? They have to order it so I don't want stuck with the wrong stuff.
Thanks a bunch!
Angel

I just got pn 6L3Z-1522405-AB last week, the keypad/harness IS included with the handle assembly. However, I have not installed it yet; I'm waiting on my jimmi jammer anti-theft plates to come in so I only pull the door panel once.
I got it from ED Olsen, Parts Manager, at http://www.discountfordpartsaty2kford.com/ for my 06 XLT. You can call him at 206-431-7331.
I don't think the 07s changed, but I can not say for sure.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response - yes, already dropping some dimes on the new baby!
That's good to hear about it being a single piece. I've been Googling all night and so far I've confirmed that part # is good for 2004-2006, but not found any 2007 owners that have said whether it worked or not. Did find one post from somewhere saying the Ford parts catalog no longer has it, or marked it obsolete in Dec 2006. Still not sure where that leaves me. Even if they did that, gotta wonder if the part would work anyway. Unless someone else knows between now and tomorrow afternoon, think I'll contact the guy you used. I guess if nothing else, maybe my parts guy will let me return it if it doesn't work.

It's wrong, IMO to generalize and say ALL salespeople don't know what they're talking about. I challenge anyone here to ask me a product-knowledge related question regarding any of the above mentioned vehicles that you think I can't answer. Thank you, drive thru...

1. Ask them what they are looking for and try to upsell. Hoping they take the bait and buy. High pressure tactic with no indepth knowledge of the product.
2. Ask them what they are looking for and then try to understand their real needs. Make informed suggestions, let them think and then try to upsell. A midlevel technique that is effective with little buyers' remorse.
3. Introduce yourself and let them tell you what they want. Fulfill the "wants" but inform them of what they really need along with what they want. Truly understand with empathy and be brutally honest with tact and very well infomed facts. This will win a sale over slight pricing increases any day of the week. Low pressure to the buyer with a lot of homework to the salesman. The payoff is with a satisfied customer AND word of mouth leads as well as with customer loyalty.
The bottom line that can spoil any sales process is "Customer Service". Poor quality post sales support can KILL any business. Even if they are the only game in town.
Later, now sell something!!!!
jgonza5, I called your guy, Ed Olsen. He was very helpful (and didn't try to sell me anything else). He was 100% confident that the same part number does work with my 2007. I've ordered it and he is shipping today. I will post back my results next week when I put it in. Thanks again!
Woo Hoo!
I got the part today and have it installed. Thanks for all of the posts here and other boards for explaining the process. I still had some re-do/trial-and-error moments on routing the harness around the door lock rods. Why-oh-why did ford not make a bigger cutout to work with in that area!
Anyway, the part # 6L3Z-1522405-AB did definitely work with the 2007 F150 XLT SCREW. It includes the handle and keypad for any of those looking for this info. Now I just get the satisfaction of correcting my local parts guy!
Thanks everyone!

Where did you order LT handles that cheap? I found all four color matched with the driver keypad for $324.43 on Fords OE part website.
Jerry- I could be wrong but I don't think your XL is even gonna be a possibility on the keyless entry. They don't offer keyless entry on them so there is no wiring in the loom or Security module. The other models all offer it so even if it did not come with it the wiring is still installed in the loom and the keyless Security module is installed. About the only way your going to be able to have keyless is with an aftermarket remote kit. It will come with the door lock actuators,KE brain, wiring and the remotes. But you still aren't going to be able to have door handle keypad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I was wondering the same thing.. I have an 08 XL and am interested in this mod..
I know an actuator for the door lock would only cost about $20 but the real question is if that wiring is installed along with the security module. It MIGHT have everything necessary.. I have already found a few connectors connected to NOTHING in and around the truck (while installing an audio system).
If I could get away with installing the actuator and the door handle it would pay for itself the first time I lock my keys in the damn thing.. the next few times I lock my keys in the truck will just be icing on the cake! haha
oh and for those who ask why not just get all the fancy junk up front.. the dealership had like 30 XLs on the lot that wouldnt move.. I got mine for $10650 + TT&L (sticker was $21k) and according to the the sticker on the door it rolled off the production line 4 months ago. Not bad IMHO.

I think you are right.. oh well..
the only reason I would do it was for the number pad entry.. I had that on an old Taurus back in the day and it saved me many times.. guess i will just get one of those magnetic key holder thingies.
The remote keyless entry doesnt do much for me because the remote is on the keychain and that is normally sitting in the ignition while I am standing outside the locked vehicle.. if you know what i mean.. Im like a woman when it comes to locking my keys in the car.
No offense to any women that actually frequent this board of course. Pop-a-lock has been on my speed dial for years.

I took of my door panel to see if connection for keypad was there sure enough it was
I also was told by the service advisor at the dealership no there is no connection for it.

Trueblue- I assume you have keyless entry. Your profile doesn't say what model you have although I assume it is an '06. If you have keyless entry you may luck out. If you bought it new you should have the code card in the glove box (if the salesman didn't remove it). The earlier ones (like my '04) didn't have the computer turned on to recognize the keypad, but if yours is an '06 it probably does.
