Now a RANT

So I called The Stealership about getting my truck aligned they told me the price could be anywhere from 49.99 all the way to 200.00. Said that these trucks can not be aligned without doing a whole lot of work and they don't come from the factory with the ability to adjust cast and camber. This can't be true is it?
Any info would be great surley ford would nat have done this. Any info would be great I want to get this done soon.

This is strictly towards Jon150 or unless you feel like driving a lot. There is a place called Southwest Brake and Alignment. Best place ever! They have on the vehicle tire balancing. They true the tires, and the balanced my truck and mounted my leveling kit. I think it was like 250 for everything.

No, there aren't factory provisions for adjusting caster or camber on these trucks, nor were there any on the previous gen F150. Bolts with eccentric cams on them are required.

Southwest B & A is pretty cool, not far from me. I would never let Brake Check touch any of my vehicles, just from past experiences.

Since the strut concept took over front suspensions a lot of vehicles only have limited alignment capability from the factory. Actually, most cars/trucks, nowadays.
If you raise or lower your truck, put big tires on it, etc. You fall outside of the factory range of adjustments. Also true if you are in a front end collision or some other damage that requires more movement.

This can be fixed rather easily, but it will cost you. 200 bucks, if it includes the extra parts is not really all that bad. Most of the alignment shops (lifetime for 99.99) sort, also want extra money for extra parts. 98% of the trucks in this forum will not need anything extra for at least 100k miles.
Those that change the angle of the truck mostly will need something.
I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it.
Just a cost of modding.
Chris

I wouldn't go as far as bad mouthing brake check, it's just a few bad past experiences that weren't too good; If I remember correctly it was having to deal with an alignment after having some mcpherson (sp?) struts installed around 10yrs ago.

I also have a few memories from the Pevito (sp?) family.
My dad frammed a house for the owner in Elm Creek a long time ago, he said the guy was a real d!c*head. And the son that makes the commercials now, was a star football player at Clark when UIL went to the "no pass, no play" rule and he didn't pass and he didn't get to play. The father made a big stink about it in the newspaper, but it only showed how dumb his kid was at the time.

Well I got it aligned this morning the toe was out a little but everthing else was good. So it only ended up costing 79.00 for a 4 wheel. But I'm a little confused I did not think that you could adjust the rear alignment since it a solid axle.

I got a 2 wheel alignment for $24.00 at the dealer. But, I do work there too, so it's different for me. A tire rotation costs $4.98, and an oil change with Motorcraft oil (theyt use crappy Pennzoil unless I specify Motorcraft) and a Motorcraft filter (boo Fram!) is $16.94. So basically, if I needed an LOF, alignment, and tire rotation it would cost me $45.92, or about 60% of the cost of one alignment. I love my job.

I realize each dealer may be different, I had mine aligned with the tires being balanced also for $80. I had a slight steering wheel nibble and it fixed the problem.

The ford dealer uses pennzoil unless you specify Motorcraft?

Yes, a lot of dealers have contracts with oil companies such as Pennzoil, Quakerstate, etc. for their bulk oil. So when you go to the dealer for an oil change, there is a good possibility that you are not getting Motorcraft oil unless you specifically tell them that is what you want put in it.
