Edge pod painted...Color not quite a match

Well I decided to go ahead and paint my Edge pod. I called around a couple of body shops and they wanted anywhere between $30-$50 just to match and mix up some paint, which I thought was ridiculous. I have a white Lariat with tan interior. My interior code is EW and for 04 the pdf file posted a while back says my interior colors are Med Pebble, Lt Pebble, and Charcoal Black. My Edge rests upon a dark grey piece, I have no black in my interior. So I went to O'Reiley's and bought some paint to try and match on my own. I bought some Dupli-Color Medium Gray Metallic, #DSGM347.

The best I can say is that it's better than the original black

It looks much worse at night, during the day it looks better. I might go back to the store and get a color thats a little bit lighter and see how it looks. Even if I got the color exactly perfect it will still look a little different since the texture of the pod is different from the dash's. Bottom-line, for $5.99 it looks better than the black, but not as good as it should be.

There is a website that sells the rattle cans that match the factory colors almost perfectly (much better than duplicolor). I keep meaning to ask the person who bought paint from them what the site is so I can buy a couple cans. Only thing is the paint is pretty expensive.

The color remotely closest to the dark gray was Charcoal Black. He said he would have to special order it, I'd have to prepay and it wouldn't be refundable. I didn't have enough faith in Charcoal Black to spend the $20.

Looks fine. It makes a big improvement over the factory black pod.

Medium pebble and light pebble are beige colors according to the dealership. The other option was charcoal black, which i am pretty sure it wasn't but you never know, maybe Ford sees that as a dark gray

You might consider lightly buffing it with fine steel wool to knock off the gloss. But I think it looks good left alone too.
