The images are now displayed and for $50 you can get a detailed video made of the entire truck shipped to your door and believe it or not, that entire $50 will go towards the purchase of the truck!

My question is, does anyone know what exhaust that is? It sounds like a FAWKIN muscle car. I just watched the movie and my f'in God, I was blown away by how mean it sounded, I hope it's not dubbed. I inquired about the exhaust and am awaiting a response. Even with no muffler my truck was never that loud.

All sounds on a movie are dubbed. They do a rough sound recording in the field, but then it all goes through the Foley machine.
Sounds from an outdoor set are unusable. So any sound that the truck makes, no matter what exhaust, is from a file, not the actual truck.

Notice the great shifting sounds from automatics, etc.

As to show trucks, I have family in the business, and a recently passed friend was a car wrangler with a HUGE collection. You've seen his cars in dozens of movies.
Movie cars are all show, no go. They are for display only.

Funny examples;
Miami Vice; The first Ferrari (Black Daytona) Actually Chevy Corvette with kit. Stick shift sounds, Ferrari engine sounds. Actually a 350 with automatic.
American Graffiti Harrison Ford's powerful racing Chevy, 55 or 56, depending on scene. When it roles you can plainly see it is a stock 235 6 cyl. They had a half dozen duplicates on the set. All sounds were dubbed, of course.

Red Dawn. I have sat on the 'Russian' tanks. They are not. Old American stuff with lots of fake add-ons. They did a great job on faking them out. Some experts were wondering where they got the real stuff. They didn't.

JAG Sat in some of the 'Hummers' for that show. They were not hummers, which were unavailable when they started shooting the show. So they built them in a neat place off the 5 freeway. Right next to their 'space bikes' and other special effects.

Movie magic is just that. Slight of hand, editing tricks, facades.
A movie truck is a show truck. Period.

The expression movie magic goes back roughly 85 years. Well before talkies. It was used to death in the low eighties.
Not surprised that some software/web folks used it. Like saying turbo, new improved, etc. its just something in common usage. I was using it in the original sense.

Sounds interesting, you talking about Palmdale Raceway, in Littlerock? Who's putting it together?

I seldom go to the track anymore, but my sister lives in Littlerock so I do get near there fairly often.
Might be interesting if there are gonna be a few of the Forum members there.
