Volant Air Intake

Anyone running a volant cold air intake in a 5.4. They look sweet and i am wondering if they ONLY look good or if they help performance at all.

If any of you have one, pics would be nice as well

On volant's web site they have one that is just the air box and a new hose and then they have one that has a ram air tube. Which one do you guys have.

Thanks

I don't have a Volant, but ordered the S&B about 2 days ago. The S&B has the same closed air box design and does everything that the Volant does, but at roughly $40 less. Any aftermarket intake does about the same thing, just getting rid of the stock restrictive design is the key.

the S&B and volant both have a sealed filter box, which is the key to their performance. ive had a volant and i have an S&B now, i love them, definately added performance a quicker throttle response. do a search as the volant has been discussed many times in the past few weeks

Bob, now that you've had the S&B for a few more days now, what's your seat-of -the-pants comparison between the two (volant, s&b)? Performance, MPG, sound, etc.? I'm still torn between the two and having someone like you who's used both, I appreciate your unbiased opinion on these intake kits. All things considered, are they equal in satisfaction?

well i did the search like you said and it sounds like it is a sweet system, so i went ahead and ordered it. it will be here by 9 am tomarrow. Hopefully with my edge and the volant their will be a tremendous difference. Now i am thinking about a corsa exhaust. I just put one on my brother's Chevy SS and it is sweet

Thanks for all the help

I have a Volant on backorder for my 2005 5.4L.... I got a good price on it but have had to wait three weeks for shipment (which stinks). Anyway, I put a Volant on my CTS and believe me when I say you will notice a difference in both the performance and sound of your vehicle! As for the corsa exhaust, that is also on my list... I have always been a big corsa fan. If you get one installed, be sure to post pics.

Enjoy the Volant!

I am curious about the worth of the ram air tube and also whether or not there is a chance of an water getting up in there.

Don't waste your money on the ram air option. I had ram air on my 98 and couldn't tell any difference between it and the plain old K&N system that I put on it first, for a third of the price. Spend the extra money on a tuner or exhaust.
