Calling all lifted guys!

Long story so sit back...Last night I took my dad out to eat for his b-day. My dad is looking for my mom a new Expy so after supper, me, my wife, my dad and mom went to a nearby dealership that is full of trucks!!! As soon as we pull in there is a truck that looks exactly like Kick *** FX4's but with a different grille. My wife says "dang why don't we do that to your truck? That's hot!" I was completely thrown off. A little background...we got married back in August and bought a new house so we're just starting to get on our feet and slowly add stuff that we need to the house. All I have left is a bedroom suit and fence to put up. Until last night, she was completely against modding my truck but then she saw that one and went crazy. She said "you won't be able to park in the garage anymore" and I said "who cares if my truck looks like that!" I've been wanting to lift it but never expected it would happen. With tax returns coming and hopefully I'll sell my four wheeler and system soon (if anyone is interested in either let me know), I'll be able to do it. So after this long story, I have a few questions. I want to do it right if I'm going to do it. What is the cheapest but safest way to go as far as lifts? The cheapest I found was $1400 for the Rancho 4" and Superlift 4.5". I plan on installing it myself. The cheapest but best tires I found were BFG MT's. I'll probably go with 17x9's but I'd love to have 18's or 20's if I could do it. I might add the Edge but I'll have to recover for a while before gears come. Whats the best way to go lifted guys? I'm guessing this will be a no but does anyone regret lifting their 150? How's lifting going to affect my warranty? Thanks! Sorry for the long post!

Gears are a load of crap. You do not need to regear your truck when you only increase the tires size 4 inches. I don't see why everyone is going gear crazy here.
My speedometer is only 4mph off.
My lift was $2100 Installed with tire mount, balance and allignment and 90 day warranty. Procomp stage 1 6"
My rims were $805- Chrome 18x10 Mazzi Hulks
My tires were $1000- Nitto Mud grappler 35's.
They aren't bad tires, they're loud but not much louder than the BFG's. And a heck of a lot cheaper.

There are a couple of Major lift brands for our trucks, such as: RCD, CST, FABTECH, RANCHO, SKYJACKER, PRo-COMP, and a few others. As far as a 17" wheel, I would not do it, due to the brake caliper clearance issues. I would reccomend 18" or bigger. Do you plan on doing alot of mudding, because if you choose a mud tire, you are not going to get the greatest tire life out of it. I would reccomend the nitto terra grapplers. As far as regreting the lift, not at all. Lifting and your warranty, unless you have a problem that was caused due to your lift, you should not have any problems with your trucks warranty. You may want to test drive that dealer truck to see if you like the feel of a lifted truck. I say do your research, and get it done.

Here is mine:

I love my lift. Its a Fabtech 6" with 35" Toyo MTs and 18" Moto Metal 951s. I think it rides as good as stock if not better. The Edge will make your performance a lot better after you lift it. It will also adjust your speedometer as well. I have seen some procomp 6" for $1300. I got my Fabtech for $1600. They are both good lift kits but I liked the look of the fabtech crossmember better. BFG MTs are good tires and they have a good price. You will probably need to trim part of the crossmember mount on the truck with a sawzall. Thats probably the hardest part. You will also need 4 TALL jacks and some basic tools. You can download the instructions from the website to see how the install goes.

I love mine.

I personally, wouldn't worry about gears until you go ANY bigger than 35s.

PS: Do NOT get the Superlift!

I love mine.. You are fine with your gears if your only going to 35"s.. I am running 35"s with 3.73 in this truck, and on my last f150 i ran 35"s with 3.55's

Both worked fine...

Thanks for the replies so far! I know a pretty good bit about all the lifts just no experience with them on these trucks. I had a lifted Ranger before this truck and have done some work on the side installing lifts for folks. I have a couple of friends that own a truck accessories shop too so I know a lot from them. Is anyone having a true issue with 17's? I don't plan on any hardcore mudding but I hunt, fish, and camp a lot so I might get off the beaten path every now and then. I want a fairly aggressive tire. I don't drive my truck daily b/c I have a company truck so that's good. I've been leaning toward the Rancho but I know Pro Comp and Fabtech are good products. What about the new Tuff Country 6" for our trucks? I can get that for next to nothing but I don't want it if it sucks! PLEASE keep the comments and suggestions coming from all of you guys with experience especially those do-it-yourselfers that have installed the lifts. Thanks!!!

P.S. All of those trucks rock!

I lovemy lift as well and no regrets here at all In your case I would recommend the rancho lift, I wouldn't go with superlift.

Along with brake clearance issues with 17's, the other thing to look out for is that 5.5" backspacing won't work with certain lifts.
