I finally got it! The 2006 Alpine CDA-9856. It's a bad bitch! As usual Alpine comes through. I have never been disappointed in any Alpine product and this one continues the trend. It sounds great and has a lot of features for the price. My favorite thing about it is the Full Speed iPod connector. (I'll have a review of that as soon as it arrives in the mail.)
It's also a good match with the interior. It has black chrome on it instead of chrome like last years models and that stupid touch pad is gone. It lights up the same color green as the rest of the dash and the blue buttons almost exactly match the climate control light at night.
The install was pretty easy. The only trouble I had was getting the trim panel off the dash. A couple of the clips remained in and the plastic just popped out of them, but it all went right back in fine, so I guess it's not a problem. I'm not looking forward to removing it again to connect the Full Speed cable.
I had to play with the dash kit to get such a flush mount. I had to remove the radio from the sleeve and take off the alpine trim panel and use the breackets and trim panel that came with kit. Now it mounts perfectly flush and the CD player open without a problem. The only thing I miss about my old Alpine was the motorized faceplate. This one just swings down. But the extra features more than make up for it. Besides, once I get the iPod hooked up I won't be listening to CDs.
I'm going outside to take some pictures right now because it finally stopped raining.
