ford chrome oem nerf bars..question?

i got a set of nerf bars installed by ford. its the chrome oem ones. when i picked up my truck after they were installed, i noticed at home that the bars were on wrong. i took them apart and put them back on. while they were off i noticed a couple extra holes on the bottom of the nerf bars. can anyone tell me how many holes should be there. i think when they put them on wrong they just drilled some extra holes under the bars to make them fit instead of putting them on the right way.

here are the holes under the nerf bars..they look like extra holes drilled in..is this right?

I just put a set of the 4" on my truck last week. There are 3 threaded holes for the front mount and 3 for the back mount. There's also a open hole at the front and back. You have to use 2 of the 3 threaded holes to mount the bars. Depending on which 2 holes you use, the bars will sit further forward or back. Just be sure not to over tighten the bolts, they only need 16 ft-lbs.

ok so the open holes i have are normal? as seen in the picture above..they originally had the a bolt in each of the open holes instead of the threaded holes.

I'm going to go outside and pull one of mine off and take a picture so you can see what holes are in mine. I'll also mark a second photo showing which holes I have mine bolted on with. I'll post them in my gallery.

Pics are in my gallery. Hope they help.

They look normal, I just put mine back on, and they looked exactly the same as yours.

I believe the open holes are there to allow moisture to drain.

I agree. I'm sure they're for draining.

Just thought of something. How did they have the bolt in the open hole? Did they have a clip with a nut on it in the hole? If they did, you may want to check your mounting brackets and make sure they used all the clips on them. There are 4 clips per mounting bracket. When I did mine, there weren't any extra so there is a chance you're missing some.

instead of putting the bolt in the threaded hole..they somehow screwed it into the open hole. it actually threaded the the hole when they put the screw in....im taking it in for them to look at it to make sure everything is good.
