Feedback on Air Force 1 and Volant Intake
I installed the Air Force one intake about 1 month ago, I noticed that it is louder than stock and there is quite a bit of vibration when the trucks RPM's get above 2K, is this what others with this intake found? I intalled the Volant this weekend and noticed a big difference between the sound and vibration, but not alot of difference in performance, except the CIA does not come on now in stock programming. I have the Edge programmer and the intake. I just wanted some feedback from others you have these intakes so I can deceide which one to keep. Thanks.

i had a volant on mine for a long time, i recently sold it because im getting a free one from another company, but i LOVE the volant, it is IMO the best design out there, with a sealed box to really get the cool air in, and a factory appearance, not too "bling"
the volant is still louder than stock, it is noticeable, but not obnoxious. nothing will be as quiet as the stock intake, by design its nearly impossible. ive never heard an AF1 in person so i couldnt compare those two
I also have the Volant with the edge and Flowmaster SIDO and I would have to say, next to the edge, the Volant is absolutely the best money I have spent on my truck. With just the edge you could tell the truck was starving for air, then I added the exhaust and it got worse. Luckily my Volant came two days after the exhaust and it really improved my performance.
I just order my Volant( thanks Bob) & Edge, I already have a Magnflow catback. Im hopeing this set up will kick ***
I had the 1714 in but took it out cuz I just sold it on Ebay. I must say that I did notice a difference once the 1714 was removed, This thing feels like a big fat DOG now... I hope the Edge is way better than the 1714. Cant wait to get my stuff in

No CEL's here. Now the AF1, that is a different story.
the volant doesnt throw codes, and it uses a box around the filter, that is sealed off so it only pulls air from the fender and behind the headlights, it does not use a "heat shield"

While many may lead you to the watering hole...
The AF1 doesn't always throw codes... I've got well over 4 or 5k on my AF1 with no codes.. not a one.
Additionally, some may call me the 'exception' to the rule... I don't think that's the case in the least. If it was, you'd never see one of these for sale anywhere because the vendor (no matter who it is) wouldn't want to deal with the headaches. As it stands, they're pretty readily available...
Choose what you think will be best for you... for me, it was the AF1... zero regrets thus far (although, I'm toying with trying out something new... *cough*).

well everyone knows the saying, bad word spreads faster than good, so people hear the horror stories about the AF1, the fact of the matter is, any HIGH FLOW intake SHOULD need a tune to work correctly. The volant, in my experience, hasnt thrown a code for anyone with their new tube, but i wont say it DOESNT throw codes, if i did say that in the past, it was said without thinking. Even so, the volant would greatly benefit from a tune.
The AF1 just seems to me like every single other intake on the market, a chrome tube, a filter and a heat shield, which makes me think that other similar setups are succeptable to the same CEL problems, they just arent popular enough to be reported here on these boards
to anyone looking for an intake, use your best judgement, dont follow the pack, simply for the sake of following the pack, whether that be the volant or AF1 or any other intake. do your own research, find a design YOU like. any intake can be made to work, its up to you which you prefer, because ultimately they all do the same thing!
