Question Remote Starter HELP

Just when I thought I knew what I was doing, now I'm not so sure. My 04 F-150 has keyless remote entry I wanted to add remote start to it, so I bought Ford's 2W7Z-19G364-BA (silver system). I was think I needed this unit because it has the four button remote. After I started preping the wiring I'm think maybe I needed only the remote starter unit. But how do you get the four button remote. Buy them seperately? Can I use what I have without it fighting the existing remote? Did I buy he wrong unit? Any help will be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you got the right system. The new 4-button remote will replace your existing keyless entry remote. If you just got the remote starter only unit, then you would have to carry around two remote keyfobs. So install what you got and you should be set. Here, this webpage might help you out: http://www.gemsen.com/ford/

Thanks SteveVFX4 I think I'll call the part department and see what they can tell me. Not that your'e wrong about it working. I been to the site you supplied and printed off all of the instruction for installing the unit. All three variations seem to use the same wiring harness just mor or less wires. I just concerned that the two remote keyless system will be fighting each other. I'll posted waht I finally do.
Thanks again.

no, they won't be fighting each other. You just tap into the door lock and unlock wires along the driver's side door sill. You old keyless remote would still work if you want to use it, but why? The new system comes with an antenna and you get much better range with the remote for both remote starting and also unlock/locking the truck. The factory keyless remote range stinks!

btw, I do have the same silver kit installed in my truck.

Thanks agian. I under stand now. Question, How did you connect up your wires. Cut strip and solder or use those split wire splicers? There sure isn't much extra wire to play with in the harnesses. The dealer gave me the Surelock kit for a car so I wouldn't get the job done till tomorrow.

Your installation on the F150 is very simple. In the ignition harness all you need is the four ignition wires and the blue horn wire. Then in your driver sill panel you can grab ground, lock, unlock, domelight, brake, parking light. And you're done.

You can program the system for tachless sensing. The manual doesn't tell you that. To do it just go to option bank 3 (6 chirps) and turn the LED on for the first four options and you're done.

I install these all day long for Ford. I have your F150 down to about 45 minutes out the door.
