New Flowmaster Exhaust Video/Pics

In the video you really can't tell how loud it is, my camera won't pick up loud noises like my old camera did. The rumbling and backfiring is LOUD. I lost a ton of low end, but the sound is worth it for now. I have the magnaflow muffler in the bed Not much to really review here so it's not like my usual reviews in my sig. Regardless, this thing turns heads, if I rev it up and look around to see who turns, I can get anyone and everyone to turn their head. The drone is not too bad at all, and with my setup as is, I can get almost 25mpg on the freeway. My city mileage didn't change at all with the exhaust and I assume it didn't change my highway mileage either.

For an explanation of the powerloss I am referring to, it's not throttle response, that is very touchy still (makes me smile). I can still spin'em, trust me. It's right after you hit 5mph or so, when I punch it you can hear the engine working real hard but the speed is no longer jerking. I feel the power loss all through the powerband. If you are discouraged about the Magnaflow, many people say it's loud it's just not to me, you really can't hear it being the driver, but if you look at my mudding videos you can definitely hear it, and I never heard it like that before. I asked a buddy and his passenger about when I passed him on the freeway, "Was my intake or exhaust even that loud, could you hear it?"...he goes, "Hear it?...we f'in felt it.

I toyed with a regular cab hemi on the freeway today right behind a chp unit, so we played it easy but we still gunned it. I nodded to him as I passed him and he nodded back, about 5 seconds later he floored it and passed me much quicker, he had some rather large cojones to do it where he did (about 100ft from the officer ahead of us). Let me tell ya, I felt real small when he passed me but I would have performed a little better with my magnaflow (would have been pretty close). He even had stock exhaust. I test drove an IDENTICAL (same color, everything) dodge with a hemi and I felt it was somewhat overated. As in, it was not neck breaking at all, it was just strong no matter where I punched it.

I'm getting sidetracked. Like I was saying, when I punch it now, I can just hear and feel the horsepower going out the pipes, wish I could have both. The reason for me switching? I was not impressed with my magnaflows sound, not loud enough. I could hear my intake over the maggie. The other reason would have to be the mod's that let me down (namely the Troyer Tuned XCal2). If you don't know the story, I have enormous flat spots in my pedal, I can punch it and feel hardly anything at some points. I am getting HORRIBLE gas mileage, 8-9mpg at absolute best in town (I literally can't get any better mileage no matter what I try, I used to be able to get almost 14 at absolute best, loss of 5-6mpg). Lastly, I did not feel a big increase in power, just higher rpm shifts. But enough with the gripes, onto the media!

Revving It Up! (video)

I linked a new image I just uploaded of my stuck out at Sturgeon's. As you can see, I was dug down pretty deep and went further down as the night went on. That is the reason why nobody could pull me out. You won't know what I mean if you didn't read my post about it. Also, I was stuck with my old exhaust, the tip was bent wheeling at another location far from there. The audio in the video is deceiving, it's actually very loud. The Mark LT shifter swap was not as easy as it looks, took me a while.

The guy in the video (not me)...is totally awesome.

Sounds nice!

Does it have that gurgle/backfire sound all the time when you gas it, or only when the motor is cold?

I had a 40 series Flowbastard welded in about 6 months ago because I was afraid of getting that kind of gurgle sound. Borla is infamous for that gurlge, snap, pop sound...

Well thats what came on the receipt. Not sure what "series" it is (the receipt must be wrong) but it's been around for years. It's a very small box muffler, it's about 6"x6"x3". It doesn't have that unless I'm revving, when I floor it it does not have that cackle, it has a deep but loud scream. I'll have to have a buddy video tape me next to him because I haven't even really heard it except for when I'm under bridges or in tunnels (sound refraction).

Here is a link, it's called the Delta Force Race Muffler.

if what you wanted was sound, cool, but from a performance standpoint, not a good move IMO. im sure you did lose your low end torque, flowmasters are notorious for that. and power probably IS going out of your exhaust pipes.

nonetheless it does sound pretty mean, but im not a big fan of the popping

holy crackle batman! I have owned 2 vehicles with flowmasters in them. I think if either one of them crackled that bad, I would be looking for an alternative!

When your truck is idling it does sound pretty mean. Hopefully the crackling is not as bad when it gets warmed up.

<-When I show of my new exhaust, i'll make sure the truck is warm

Why thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it. About the cackling, it happens at all times when I rev, it's quite the head turner. Now when I'm driving, I don't think it ever cackles. It's not too loud in the cab but it's there if you listen. I am going to get a new video, one with better audio so you can hear just how loud it is.
