Door Panel Removal
Door Panel Removal
I just ordered keyless entry for my xlt and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on installing it. I did a search and could not find too much information about it. I know that there are 5? bolts that hold on the door panel, right? Does the panel just come off then? I just don't want to end up busting something and it costing me more money. Ford wants $100 to put it on.
yeah, the door panel is held on by a lot of plastic clips. when you take the bolts off from the door panel, you have to lift up on the door panel and pull out towards you at the same time. Be careful though, the clips will break with to much force!

There are tons others. If you don't get the results you want, back off your search. For example, I found these two and others in 30 seconds by cutting the search terms down to just 'door panel' then read the titles. 315 results prolly 15 helpful threads. Now go search some more grasshopper.
Oh yeah, those clips M02v8 is babbling about are not weak, yank the crap outta the door, it can take it. Also note you need to remove the front door speakers to get the door panel off.

[QUOTE]Dzervit,
those clips are plastic, they break with force. I broke one myself on the rear door when I had my truck which I warned this guy not to be to forceful so he doesn't do the same.
If you break the clip, or clips, the only way to fix it is to buy a hole new door panel and those things are expensive, so just be carful with these clips, anything plasic can't have to much force appliede before it gives and breaks.
(just giving my .02 cents about it since one broke on me)

Not to revive a dead thread but I found instructions on how to remove the door panel. I went through a lot of threads on how to do this but they either were not for our year or didn't include vehicles with power windows/locks. If anyone else needs this info, this is what I did. I went to stylinconcepts.com and looked up exterior mirrors. One of the products has a pdf file that has step by step instuctions with pictures on how to remove the panel and if need be, the mirror. Just thought I would let you know incase anyone ever needs to know.
