Short throw is all relative to the shifter you put on it and has nothing to do with the tranny itself
The TKO will be "notchier" feeling guaranteed, while the T56 will be smoother. Also, if you do the T56, you need to work up something with a reverse lockout switch to make it easier to get into reverse...usually people just tie this in with the brake pedal light circuit.

Unless you're dead set on a manual transmission, you do realize that a properly built auto with a good converter would stomp a manual transmission into the ground, and it'd be cheaper, right?
