What are you going to do with it?
Put it under the seat?

All open to carry with a permit. Courthouses/schools would be probaly the only place you can not, in Mn.. Since I got out of school in 74 and dont make any visits to the courthouse (im a good boy), I dont think I would need the lockbox in the console. I did come across the situation once where I had to leave it in my 04 f150, I just popped the whole shifter cover off and hid it in there. Its a nice hiding spot if you have looked under it. Had it apart when I wired the subwoofers. Takes seconds to pop it off.

I know around here, you have to have the weapon locked in a box inside the vehicle, mounted to the vehicle, and locked within state parks. Also, traveling through California is the same for Oregon CCLs. I suppose if you were transporting other things in there and didn't want to even risk them being taken, no matter what it was...maybe if you were diamond heister/seller

Ever go to the Post Office? Its a federal crime to carry it there. As for carrying it into a bar...I am glad we can't here in GA because I have never seen the combination of a gun and drinking turn out good. I am willing to bet I have more guns than anybody on this board but I have to say there are times its best to leave it in the truck! I keep a Ruger P345 in my truck right now, I put some velcro on the console lid where the tissue goes and my holster sticks to it and holds the gun in place perfectly. The little plastic piece that holds the tissue in holds the gun and the velcro keeps it from sliding out.
As for the console lock box...how does it attach to the console? Is it bolted to the floor? If not I can pop that lid off the console and pull it out in about 10secs with a screw driver...then the box would make a nice little basket to carry the goodies off in!
My main reason is to stash away my radar detector, Sirius sportster, cell, wallet, and in a pinch my Edge (if i'm in a strange place)
As far as my "door locks" are concerned and i'm not sure where you'r e from, but if somebody wants to breaking into your vehicle they're going to bypass the "door Locks". I think the console safe can deture a criminal who is basically in a hurry to get the goods and get out.
