4.10's would bring it closer back to stock, but then you have the additional weight, I would definitely go to 4.56's, but thats another $1400 give or take a few hundred. The truck I test drove had pretty good low end, but at around 15mph you could really feel the loss in power. It felt strong in the lower rpms until I tried flooring it (which made no difference). You feel like you're on a throne sitting that high.

Edit:
It's about 1400, I've seen it as low as $1200 and as high as $1600. They have to do the front and back because you have 4wd, it's half that in 2wd's. If you only did one side, that side would spin faster than the other when locked in. Good luck.

Depends on location, brand oF gears, etc...

I got my front and rear done for $1250.

we have a couple 4x4 shops where it's $400 for labor (200 for the front, 200 for the rear) and if you like you can provide your own gears and oil (which I have done in the past). I guess it comes down to having a friendly shop in the area.

On a side note, why do you guys have fronts higher than the rear? Is it for front end clearance on dunes?

I couldn't run the front higher, I would be looking at the sky when I hooked up a boat.

Truck looks good man

Labor is about right. The gears, unless you have connections to get them cheaper, are about $700 (front & rear). I paid a little more for 3yr/36k warranty labor (no questions asked) and lifetime warranty on the gear sets.

Yes, front end is higher for more clearance to help compensate for the engine weight. We pull toy haulers that weigh quite more than some boats...a weight distributing hitch and bag the rear you'll be fine.

EDIT: Thanks for the truck compliment!

Man the truck looks GREAT! You really have to do both the gears and tuner if you want to get the performance back. If you just do the gears your speedometer cannot be calibrated until you get a tuner. Ford's recalibration will not work with 4.56 gears (I already tried). I would drop the coin and do both. Your transmission and drivetrain will thank you. That's a lot more weight to be moved by too tall of gears. Once again, your truck looks great. Echoing Josiah earlier, we should have a NorCal meet and check out everybody's trucks.
BTW Rear End Specialists in Santa Clara=$1200 for a 4x4.

I got a tuner (xcalibrator2)...I got it after the gear swap. I would think even with a tuner you still put a huge strain on your transmission and engine with the bigger tires and smaller grear ratio.

I can't tell from the pic, but I'm sure it looks killer. Don't listen to what everyone else says. Your running a 6 in lift, 20's with 37's. Now that's an impressive setup where I come from.

I think they're 18's on 35's, not 37's on 20's, where did you get that?

Edit:
I see where, didn't realize there was a 2nd page (I have it set to view like 40 posts per page).
