Mobil, AMS, Redline and Royal Purple would be the best among synthetics. I prefer Mobil because it is very high quality and readily available. I also choose to run a 5w30. A lot of it is personal preference...

I concur with Steve. I used to run all synthetics, that is, until synthetics got too expensive for my every 2000 mile changes. Then I switched to straight Penzoil, always from a sealed container, never from bulk. Now I run the weights as recommended in the Owners Manual, 5-20W.

As a proving theory, those who have had their rigs in the Dealer for a burnt out engine and had the Dealer say you burnt out the engine from use of the wrong oil, these are the owners who should heed better oil schedules. I have never burnt out an engine and do not expect to drive over 80K miles between buying a new rig. Those who go over 100K miles between trade-ins should heed better oil maintenance.

Use the recommended weight. Use something with the latest API rating. Use a good filter. Change it regularly. Sleep well at night.

FWIW, you may run into VCT problems further on down the road using oils thicker than what's recommended. I run Motorcraft 5W20 and FL820S filters.

I always use Mobil 1 5w20 and started using a Motorcraft filter. Change it every 6,000mi.I figure if full synthetics are good enough for commercial jets, they should work OK for me.

Penzoil

Say "hello" to sludge. Ask any tech at your dealership and see what they say about penzoil ...

Where are you getting 5w20 from? I checked at wal-mart and they don't carry it. Can you get it in a 5 quart bottles like some of the other weights?

My Walmart carries it.

5 quart jugs and single bottle cases.

I picked up mine at AutoZone, but most autoparts stores should carry it.I never seen it in anything other than 1qt size.

I'm sorry.

I just re-read the post and realized you are looking for Mobile-1 in the 5 quart jug.

I had originally thought you were looking for Motorcraft 5-20 in the 5 quart jug.

Sorry for the confusion. :o

For me I use a motorcraft fl820s filter, and 5w30 synthetic valvoline. About $4.75 a quart. I change it every 5,000 miles.
