I went with Lowrance Iway 500C, it has huge 5" touchscreen with 20 MB driver for music and future upgradability. Check it out, it is a great unit. Those tomtom and other small screen units are way too small for cars; cant see anything, let alone trying to use that small touchscreen.

Cobra 4500

I am using the new Cobra 4500 w/traffic update. The traffic update feature is the best thing about the unit (other than the 5 inch color screen). Shows you where the trouble spots are and can even take you around on an alternate route. Traffic update is free for 3 months and then costs $59 per year. Well worth the money.

I don't care for the small screens either.

That's why I use a laptop with a 15 screen, and Microsoft Streets and Trips, with a USB magnet mount antenna.

Great system.

I have a Garmin 2720. Awesome little unit. 6 million POIs, not all that much compared to some others that have 10 million, but works great.

I have a Gramin SP III installed. I just had to move it to a temp mount on top of the head unit with the beanbag mount because I just installed an Edge tunner.

This is what I had originally. Works real good there and I could take it off and put it out of sight in the console when parked. Only negative was I am right handed and punching in buttons is difficult.

If you are looking for a great buy they are still available. Work well. I would Imagine you can buy one and get it running in your truck for under $400... I would spend a little more though. I have mine for about 3 years.

I also move the GPS and Sat radio to my M/C in the summer as neither does any good sitting in the garage as I almost exclusively use the bike once the weather turns to spring... .

Jack

Magellan Road Mate 300. Best few bucks I ever spent. I hated driving around looking for places. Voice guided, touch screen, tons of stuff in there. Around $600 as I recall.

If they could make that where it closed down into the dash, that would be sweet. I think the HU might get in the way.

is that a cassette player????

I was looking at the Magellan Road Mate 360, and I know nothing about gps. Does this unit do everything you need and is it plug and play?

Does everything I needed it to do. The only thing was that it had less storage capacity than the 700 model. I was going to buy a 256MB storage card (for less than the cost of the upgrade to the 700). When I bought mine, I got the card for free at Circuit City. The on board storage is quite ample. I had the surrounding 3 states on mine. With the card, I have the entire east coast. It works great. Will show you the closest Taco Bell, gas station and everything else. I recommend it. Easy to use. Software comes with it, connect to your pc and draw a square for the area you want and push it to the GPS. If you get one of the pre-loaded cards from Magellan, you don't need to use the laptop.

Thank you, I have to find out what size card comes with it.

I have the Garman Quest. It is easy to use and small. I know some of you dont like the small screen but it talks to you so you dont have to see teh screen al the time. Plus i can take it out on the boat and into the field. I just store it in my center console and take it out when i need it.
