Got two tires replaced ...

I love my dealer, they really bend over backwards to help. I took my truck in yesterday because it was idling a little rough and a friend said he saw a little black smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I also had them check out the "slipping" type feeling that I experience every once in a while on take off. While we were talking I mentioned that I had 19.5k miles and always keep my tires inflated and rotated/balanced every 5k but they seem to have excessive wear.

He called me back later to tell me that they flashed the computer, performed a TSB related to the slipping at take off and Ford would give me 2 new tires free (no proration BS). I just had to pay mount/balance and buy two others on my own. Well, I called the tire place I normally do biz with and they had the same two tires for $125 each including mount/lifetime balance/road hazard and would mount the ones from Ford for $12.

They also dropped off and picked up my truck at the tire shop for me ... you gotta love a small town dealer that wants to earn your business!

You should get all the tires for free and not have to pay for anything (including the mount/balance). It's all covered under Ford's extended tire replacement warranty program #04L24 for the F-150's. They cover the tires up to 3yrs/36k for vibration/harshness, uneven or rapid wear. All four of mine were worn down after only 16k miles. My local dealer replaced all four no questions asked and it didn't cost me anything!

if you were asking me, I had the 18" BFG's that got replaced.

alot of us got a letter in the mail from Ford explaining the new tire warranty. I threw mine away. But I mentioned it to the dealer about it when I took it in and they must of known about it because like I said they replaced them with no questions asked.

I didn't receive a letter but I'll check into it. I wouldn't mind getting the other two free either!
