Extang bed covers

Anyone have one of these leather or whatever they are made of covers? How do you like them? How weather resistant are they? I am debating a bed cover or toolbox. I've just never been a fan of bed covers b/c I've been afraid I wouldn't be able to haul anything big with one but my dad and uncle are trying to convince me its the best way to go for my Screw (my uncle has one on his 4 door Dakota). Opinions? (Pics of the Extang too if you have them)

Here are a few pictures of my extang rt I just installed. So far I like it but it has been about 3 days.
No rain yet so I coule not tell you about how water tight it is. But the side rails have weather stripping on them and the front and rear do also. I am thinking that the only place you might get water in is around the tail gate.
I have seen in the F150 store has a weather strip kit for it but I am going to go to home depot and pick some up and save on the shipping.
Opens and closes really easy and when open it takes about 2-3" up on the top rail. But if you put something up against it it will push out of the way.
Best part is it is very low profile. It is about half of a quarter high off the bed. You almost cant tell it is there.

Hope that helps.

Cool. Thanks for the pics! Keep me updated on how it holds up in weather. My uncle's has bars that go across I thought and hold it up. Is it easy to take it off if I wanted to use the bed but not have it rolled up at the cab?

The cross bars are built into the cover so when you roll it up they go with it. It takes like 30 seconds to roll the cover up and same time to close it.

As far as removing it totally should not be a problem. The cover is atached to 2 bars, 1 in the front and the other in the rear. The front slides into the 2 side rails then you slide the 2 clamps ( lack of better wording ) on the bottom side of the front bar over under the side rails and tighten down with thumb screws. That is what keeps it from poping up. So I think you should be able to take the cover part off in under 5 mins.

Just had installed the Trifacta (think that is it) looks good and folds real easy but only had it for a day so can't really tell you on weather and how it holds up.

I can probably take a few pics for you tomorrow afternoon some time and post them later. See what I can do, we might even have a little sun tomorrow for a nice pic.

No snaps, No velcro. The best I could find at the time. Wonderful for keeping out water. I was very happy with it.

I had an Extang Black Max on a Lightning and liked it very much. I just bought a new Screw a week ago, and ordered a Black Max for it.

I had an x-tang with the snaps on my 2000 and it was useless below 50 deg.
The cover would shrink and there was no way to get it snapped back on.
On my 2005 I have an access roll up cover on now and love it. I can roll it up in about 10 secs. plus it has a latch that locks the cover closed. I will say it is not as water tight as the x-tang but for me is much more functional.
