I need new Brake pads...help.

2005 Fx4 supacrew.

I hit 28,000 and they both went bad. She sounds like a train. I need something that wont produce dust, and wont skueeeek.

I was gonna go with some 100$ ones but both Chekers and Autozone dont have them special order. If I can get some better ones of the net, it seems better. Got any...? what should I go for, I drive alot, stop and go.

Thanks felas.

Are 2004 and 2005 Same brake pads? Do they change any?

New pads after only 28,000 miles? Wow...

Anway, I replaced mine with Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads, all the way around....

There's virtually NO brake dust now and I can't tell the difference in the braking from the stock pads....

I took them to Midas and had them installed........

I got mine from Tirerack.com but check around as pricing could have changed.

Porterfield Carbon Kevlars. The carbon kevlar pads from Porterfield are highly praised on these boards, I am going to order them soon. They are about $100 for the front I believe and produce almost no dust. I just replaced my rears and the rotors, no more HORRIBLE grinding. Was embarrassing driving anywhere.

If someone could help me, let me know what I can do to bend a fairly large exhaust tip back to normal (it's oval now), about 4" wide. I want to use a cheap tool or a household item.

Go ahead and read this thread. It'll give you a lot of different options. Of course it gave me so many that I am still undecided. And I need to make a decision soon. I think I have it narrowed down to NAPA or Porterfield, but for some reason I can't get that Porterfield site to do what I want. I have a NAPA store about 1.5 miles from my house.

Get the Porterfields from this guy on ebay (Jerry), he is good guy to work with:

I think you even get a slight discount if you buy both front and rears at the same time. I had the fronts for awhile now with no problems. My stock rears are getting worn down, and I just bought some rear Porterfields from him that I will install shortly.

What is the difference between Carbon Kevlar and Ceramic? Is there a difference? I believe they're both similarly priced.

I just had my rear pads changed at 20,500 miles on my 2004 Lariat SC. Dealer had it in for inspection and said the rear pads were 2/3 worn. I don't drive hard or fast. And definately dont brake hard either. I didn't notice and squeaking or poor braking, nor do I notice a possitive change since they supposedly changed the pads.

I'm wondering if they really needed to be changed after reading how many miles others are getting before needing a change.

My dealership is one of the largest in the area, and I've never had issues with them before.

I have noticed since buying the truck that I get brake dust build up all over the rims even a week after washing.

as I mentioned above, I just bought some new rear pads. The reason why is because I got my inspection done a few weeks ago and they said my rear pads were worn down pretty good, but still passable for inspection for the moment. My truck has 16k miles. My dad had to change his rears already in his 04 XLT after being worn down after 22k miles.

Getting new pads like the Porterfields will get rid of the dust. That's why I changed my front stock pads after only owning the truck for 1k miles. I didn't change the rears at that time because they weren't dusty. But now that they're worn, I'm changing them to the better Porterfields instead of stock ones.

I went with Satisfied Pro Ceramics from Kragens, aka shucks or checkers. I put them in myself in half and hour, and haven't heard a peep from them. Also, no brake dust. I decided that any ceramic pad was better than the OEM pads.

I have the satisfied Pro Ceramics as well and they are great! No dust, no sounds at all, with a coupon I got them for about $49 at checkers. I also have them on my wife's 2003 Escape for the past 2 1/2 years with no problem!

Can someone please provide me with the link to the Porterfield web site and the part number for the front brake pads on the '04 F-150? Every time I try accessing the site I have problems. Maybe I have something wrong.

Thanks
