-12 (4 1/2) backspacing - who's got em?

Okay I am about to pull the trigger on some wheels I've been after for a while.

Here is the deal.
The wheels are 18X9 and only come in a -12 (4 1/2) backspacing.

I am concerned about them sticking out to far from the truck.
Is anyone running rims with this backspacing on them? Do you have pics of how far they stick out?

For tires, I am going with the BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO 285/65R18.

I have no leveling kit or lift... I don't really want to do that.

Anyone see any issues running this backspacing and tires?

Thanks,
f2f

I have 20x9's with +30mm offset which is about 5.7" of backspacing and mine stick out about 1/2", but I have 305 width tires, so with 285's on mine it would be about flush. I also have a lariat with the flares, so without them they would stick out the width of the flares more. Therefore with your setup, I would approximate that they would stick out about 1 to 1 1/2 inches with flares and about 2 inches without flares. Thats just an educated guess though.

They are gonna stick out 2 1/2 inches farther than your OEM wheels.

Gosh TXF150 those do stick out pretty far.... hmmm I may need to rethink these wheels. I was going for the Moto Metal 951's Black... just wish they had 5 - 5 1/2 backspacing.

Thanks for the pic the TXf150.

Here's another view - my truck. I'll be putting on flares when tax return $$ shows up. I really like the way my wheels / tires look but I do think they stick out slightly too far.

This is 33/12.5/17 ProComp All Terrain tires on ProComp 17x9 wheels with 4.5" backspacing.

Hey Thump - what is the backspacing for the wheels on your rig?

Im getting the 951s put on my truck next week. I cant frickin wait. They look good sticking out like that for many reasons. 1) they provide more clearance for your truck if you are doing offroading and no rubbing 2) they give your truck a good stance. you will not tip over as easily. 3) It just frickin looks badass.
If you think they stick out too far then just get fender flares.

Thanks for your thoughts Kick *** FX4. The more I think about it, the more that "look" is growning on me.

Are you getting the black 951s or chrome?

I have decided to get the chrome. I think I like the look better. i think they will last longer (as in looks and appeal) and match well. The black ones are alright too its just I think there will be TOO much black and it will look funny. I cant wait!

Thumper, are your 35's about the same width as your 33's were? I'm still confused as to how your 33's stuck out so far compared to others. I like the look a lot and want it. You've got 18x9 wheels w/ 5.5" backspacing, right? And you had 33x12.5 or 33x13.5? Maybe its the 13.5 that did it? So now on the 35's are they also 13.5 width tire?
