I heard the the k&n metal intakes hold more heat than the plastic, making it a warm air intake.

Also if Is there a concern about water in these things? (I have a vararam in the vette and cringed whenever I saw a puddle).
Are different models "louder" than others?
Why is Summits http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...331+4294840115
Chrome K&N's cheaper than the black ones?
If I go with an Airforce or other brand are filters harder to come by?
Damn I bought this truck so I would not spend as much money.....
I knew I was in trouble when the leveling kit went in at 26 miles.......

If sound is what your after, K&N is a good choice. I have the plastic one and my wife hates the noise when I give it some pedal. I have had no CEL and have not heard of anyone w/ a K&N w/ a CEL.
I agree w/ rdblan2, 1 shiny piece of metal under the hood w/ everything else black plastic, does look out of place.
As stated, just don't expect any big power gains from any brand.
Personally, I think they are basically a waste of $, but again, if sound is what your after, then thats cool.
Here's a pic.
