Rear Window Rattle with Manual Slider

Does anybody else have this problem? I have brought the truck in 2 times for this problem and it has come back both times. Pretty much any bump will make it rattle. They told me last time my truck was all taken apart and they put in new foam gaskets and that fixed it...nope its still shaking.

Do you think I should try another dealership? I did have that nasty vibration problem but thats all fixed now. If I can get this figured out I'll be complaint free.

I think the TSB is only for a power sliding rear window

Yes, mine has also a rattle/squeek. It is more noticable in cold weather. Being that I absolutely HATE going to the dealer, I tried to solve it myself.

Here's what I found: The noise was resulting from the rubber seal on the outside of the rear window, where the seal touches the paint, at the bottom of the window. To fix it, I took a little lubricant (vaseline or lithium grease works) and laid a thin layer between the rubber seal and the paint. So far, I've had to do it 2 times, each at the beginning of winter (last year & this year). Don't know if this is the same sound you're hearing, but if it is, it's a pretty easy fix.

I have a problem with my Power Sliding Rear Window, it scratches and squeaks when opening, sounds like major sand is in the tracks. Anyway to get rid of this? My Windows started doing it as well so I sprayed some knockoff wd-40 and now I have this sticky crap stuck all over my windows, it was supposed to lubricate it but it basically made my window blurry because I can't wipe it off! I am now a bit weary about doing it to my slider.

i have the exact same problem. I have a power rear window. I dont think it matters if it is power or not. It makes a squeeky noise like rubber and glass is rubbing whenever I go over bumps. I have brough it in twice and they have changed everything and they say they fixed it but it still squeeks. I will probably try another dealer.

After a down and dirty search... I can't place my fingers on the TSB info... can someone please post that information... mine is, seemingly, developing a rattle... especially when the doors shut.

I have a manual rear slider. There is a tsb out for it, i had this done a while ago. There is a tsb on the manual and on the power i am trying to remember the exact number... i believe it is 05-24-01 but i am not too sure i threw my ticket with the tsb # on it yesterday... LOL and mine was squeaking on the outside bottom of the rear window where it meets the paint the dealer will remove the rear glass and put a felt like tape on the bottom and it works wonderfully... good luck to all!

easy fix for window

spray window and window track inside and out with regular old water and let it dry by it self. i did this and i have never had a problem again. i think the track gets a bit dry and this cause are problems.
at least that what i do...

After two attempts to fix my manual rear sliding window, the dealer called me yesterday and said Ford was going to replace the window with a new one. I asked if they could replace it with a non-slider and the dealer said Ford would only replace it with the same part #. I hope this fixes it, it is killing me driving a 36,000 dollar truck that is supposed to be the quietest truck on the market, rattling like it is going to fall apart. Wish me luck. I have an 04 Supercrew FX4 with 15,700 miles.

richwin, any updates? Mine has started doing it badly and it is driving me crazy. But I hate taking my truck into the dealer. How long did it take them to fix yours, if they did?
