I think I will go with the black rear bumper and harley davidson front bumper along with a black grill surround instead of chrome. Then still use the billet grill I have.

Or do you guys think I should just have it repaired to the way it was?

Duke
IMO, I think the black bumpers would look pretty cool. Personally, I prefer the Harley grill over the billet.

You only live once. I say if that would make you happy, then go for it. It would make this whole thing a little more tolerable.

doesn't' look that bad to me. If the frame is bent, a little time on a frame machine should fix it. As far as the leaf springs being pushed over, that's pretty common with any rear live axle setup. prob just bent the mounts. that's why it looks closer to the exhaust.

Sucks to hear about the truck Duke.
Like RP said, everything is fixable and can be replaced.
Good thing you walked away absolutely fine.

Duke, Did you even try to get it out of the ditch on its own power? Glad you are ok.

Thanks fellas!

Yeah the more I think on it, the harder I find it to believe that I bent the frame. I really think it's just the suspension that's all out of whack, and the fact that I need a new rear end.

I mean I hit those boulders going 35 mph, could that really bend steel without inflicting more damage to the undercarriage? The height of the 4X4 is what saved it from more body damage. Also, being that it is black, it is hard to see some of the small dents that are in it in the poor lighting.

I agree the harley grill would probably look better, I just was looking for something different and I'd want a grill in the lower part of the bumper on the harley bumper and not leave it open.

Does anyone know how I could find out if the 06 Harley Davidson bumper and lower valence would fit on the 05? I also seem to remember hearing from FX4Excursion that the 06 bumper holds the hood down differently; anyone know about this? Can any of you Ford employees help me with part numbers and prices?

Thanks again fellas,

Duke

Sorry to hear about your truck. Just glad you and your GF are ok. The harley bumpers would look great. I hope it goes back together quickly and you get back on the road. Good luck.

I did originally. But then jumped out after a push on the gas gave me nothing. I looked back and I only had part of a rim on the right rear and I was hung up on boulders.

E-mail the guys at Fordpartsnetwork.com for part numbers and prices, and then go the your local ford dealer and order them. That's the best way I can think of to get them. They should bolt up, I don't see why they would change that, but the hood latch thing and foglights you might wanna shoot FX4&Excursion an email on that one.

Well if the accident was from slush then 4HI would have helped, but I got spun because of ice so I was SOL either way. But yeah, I'm keeping it in 4HI from now on, even in slightly questionable times.

Wow. Glad everyone is OK. These trucks are great in these situations because family and friends are priceless. Freezing slush is one of the most difficult things to drive well in. I spun out a few years back in PA and just had to paint a bumper and replace a section of fence for the neighbor. The road was the same giving frozen slush crust for a nervous drive home. FWD, Ha! That thing would not go anywhere regardless. I bought chains for it the next day. Don't think the frame is bent, but a boulder is not that forgiving either, good luck.

Well im glad everyone was okay!
Definately sad to see your truck in bad shape as your truck looks alot like mine!
You should make the changes now, as thats what i did when my truck got nailed by the hail.

I also leave my 4 X 4 on all the time when the roads are questionable, as i dont want to have to be without my truck again.

On a side note it is kinda funny for me that all you guys down south have alot of snow on the ground while we are enjoying 1 of our warmest winters i can remember. Heck we still dont even have snow on the ground!
I am ready for our annual winter vacation, but i keep postponing it as we are doing pretty good. (crosses fingers and says a thank you prayer )

Jinxed ...

Hi Duke - glad you guys are okay. Use that 4x4 bud.

This, I think, is where you jinxed yourself ( your post from the swaybar thread)

Maybe, just maybe it'll see a mud hole some day. It will see lots of snow covered roads, and unplowed roads in northern minnesota with 3 feet of snow.

I'd like to see what this sway bar looks like and if it's that noticeable. Also, if anyone who sells it for a 4WD sells it with instructions. I've never done anything like this and would need some pretty good instructions.

Duke
