I think I have read every e-fan thread and in almost all of them the results reported were very minor on the performance side. A few people that did NOT have them said there would be major power gains, but all the posters that put them in said little power improvment.
Most reported improvement in gas mileage.
Or just the results you might expect.
Hey Chris, I have the SuperChips 1714. Like I said before, don't get me wrong, I do like Performance mods, but I just see allot of people not get what the expected. Like one guy just said, maybe after spending $400 for a product you brain fools you into thinking you didn't waste your money. This is all solely based on opinions I see and read here. Of course the Site that sales these items is going to "church" it up, but you'd expect more from real people like us. I remember saying at one point that my tuner is not what I expected, but maybe it was my fault for reading the opinions here and other places and buying it based off of that, and I had a couple of guys "bash" me for it. God forbid you disagree with a product.

As far as my tuner goes, I did see a nice and noticeable diff in my shifts and throttle response, but when I was reading on it awhile back it seemed like I was going to be pulled into the back seat when I hit it.......which is by far NOT what happened. I would recommend my Tuner to anyone, I just say not to think it will light up your tires on take off and not to expect to be pulled into the rear of your truck.

Yeah, I know what you mean about over-rated stuff,.

I truly never expect much from 'bolt ons' and was pleasantly surprised when the tuners, SC and DP, have met my expectations.
Even exceeded them on when set for premium fuel.

Exhaust and cold air intakes are very much over hyped in these forums. As are undersized pullies.

I do observe that the actual posts by guys that installed the fans were pretty accurate.
Seems like the ones doing the most ballyhooing are the ones that don't have the stuff...

Like someone said, its the whole package. Alot of people expect to just add one part and beat a mustang. Sorry folks aint going to happen.

If you didnt feel any difference with you tuner, I suggest you get a new one.... I had the 1714, it sucked compared to my out of the box diablo.

My truck went zero to hero with a tuner. Dropped SEVERAL tenths of second on the 1/4 runs.

IMO best mods for these trucks in this order. Tuner, Gears, Electric Fans, Pulleys, Exhaust, Intake.

Talking to a guy that was runing 13.2 N/A said the 4.88 gears and stall made the biggest difference. Stall I dont have, but I can vouch that going from 3.55's to 4.11's with 30.5" tires is a HUGE difference. I run 29" tires now and it seems to be right where I want to be in gearing.

Vortech is on order

like the man said if u want big gains then bolt on a blower i have the efans from mike t glad to have them but i think it is very hard to feel a small hp increases with a truck that weighs 6000 lbs https://www.f150online.com/galleries...w.cfm?num=9331

electric fans another reason

all our cars have them as well as our trucks, what we like is the better cooling here on the gulf coast, sitting in traffic, etc, on hot summer days we saw a real difference when we changed all the vehicles to electric fans, every thing ran cooler

we were not concerned about power, just trying to get the vehicles to run cooler

all our Ford cars have come with the electric fans

it looks like we are going to be replacing all the dodge trucks with ford but why does ford stick with the engine mount fan

we hate to monkey with the warranty issue but the electric fans make better sense

Take my tuner for example, I read and read about it here for months before I got one for my truck and it was nothing like I expected. I think the $300 price tag is way over rated for what I got out of it. Now, don't get me wrong I like performance things for my truck too, and I am more than willing to research and get one if I think it's worth it, but if you listened to allot of people these items are the best thing on the planet and of course by the way these performance mods are talked about and built up people should expect a Huge difference. Unfortunately allot of us don't have a boat load of money to spend on this stuff so we rely on what the masses say about them, form an opinion and hope it's as good as people say. Then when someone disagrees with it, they are asked, "what did you expect?"..........just my .02
I don't see a problem with asking that question. The fact is that TP only claims a 14hp gain at the rear wheels with the e-fans. In a 6000lb, 4wd truck with larger than stock tires you simply won't "feel" 14hp. You can only see gains that small with instrumented testing.

13.2 is nothing to brag about even if it's a 6000lb truck.

Uh, what planet did you come from? Last time I checked, for a 5000lb+ truck with just bolt ons, stall, gears that is impressive.

High Hopes

Sounds like he got hyped up by the treads and this made his hopes too high. I have a chip and e fans and like them both. If nothing else the fans will help out the a/c when it is hot outside in bumper to bumper trafffic your a/c will blow very cold. I noticed an increase in low end torque with them but bigger better tires toned that down. In the end I would do them again. Now the chip is my best of all mod and I have nothing bad to say bout it.

With the money invested and the benefits gained, I can't really see electric fans being a big benefit. From some of the pictures of installs I've seen on here, I think it creates more clutter if anything from routing the wiring harnesses. I'm okay with having a belt driven fan on my truck.

I agree for the guys paying 400+ on fans. I spent just a tad over $100 bucks on my setup so I'm plenty happy with my improvements.

I've done the 11.5's in my old 99 Cobra. It was all bolt ons and I wasn't impressed.

I'm working on getting a new bike because the RC51 isn't even very impressive to me in straight line anymore.

BTW I'm from earth in case you really wanted to know.

On topic thanks for an honest review of the troyer e-fans.

Thanks for the commnets guys, after driving more and more i still do not feel a diffrence and i'm slightly depressed a wasted $400 on them plus another $150 for install. To fartherford, your def right 13.2 in a 6000 lbs truck is fast ! what mods did he have ? my dad's srt-10 goes down in 14.5, so any f150 that can beat an srt-10 by over 1 second is pretty kick a$$ in my book.
