If you do drive on muddy/dirty roads (or heaven forbid go off-roading :-) all you will be doing is continually throwing crap from your rear tires on those pretty stainless tips. IF I was going to do a side exit I would do it ala Lightning and have 2 exiting on the passenger side in FRONT of the rear tire to avoid this issue or just do the normal Dual Rear Straight Exit type.
Well. I live on a dirt road, I travel plenty of dirt roads, I go offroad and still wouldn't change my choice of side exit. I think it looks the best on our trucks, sure it gets dirty but it only takes a few secounds to wipe them off. The "Lightning" style location would get almost if not as dirty as how I have mine ran. Basically, get it how you think it'll look the best and don't worry about spending a few secounds wiping them down!

Thumper, I agree yours looks Kick Butt and I understand completely what you are saying. However, keeping those tips clean for the first year or so will be easy, but send us some photos in 5+ years and let's see how they look (Been There, Done That).

All and all just tossing out some thoughts for the gentleman to consider. Heck mine is dual rear exit too (straight out back), but I pull a lot of trailers and am considering a side exhaust also. I am leaning more towards the Lightning Style, but the way you have yours is not off the list either as it does look really, really good....and maybe so good it warrants the extra cleaning effort.

To be honest I am glad we all have so many choices to chose from, it is not like that with most vehicles...

I was thinking horizontal. Dunno if you've ever seen '55-'56 fords with the through the bumper exhaust, but that is my thinkin. I need to get under there and see if it is a doable idea.
