Someone else here who is sane.

Both models I test drove where Screws and they felt identical. I just checked and they offer 3 different rear shocks for the 4wd. A standard, premium and hd that all cost the exact same amount.

The whole woodgrain thing was a joke. Damn guys lighten up.

Ive had a pile of trucks and the new 05 xlt is the best riding truck Ive had by far. One of my friends has a new dodge slt. Which is a nice truck but the ford deff. rides better. His truck does seem to have a little more juice though. sometimes I wonder If my truck realy has 300hp...lol...

You like the Ranchos? I'm sure they have multiple levels and designs, but most of the Titan owners who bought their truck with the Offroad Package (which came with Ranchos upgraded) have switched to either bilsteins or Fox shocks/struts.

You don't find them too rough? (I'm asking because I'm considering new shocks myself).

I think the type of driving would play into this equation as well. Since I test drove both in Alaska, bumpy roads, pot holes, permafrost, gravel and ice roads, you really get a feel for what the suspension does in handling for a vehicle. If you test drive both vehicles on flat streets, freeways or normal roads, you won't feel as much of a difference as you would on beat up and uneven roads.

I think the Titan came with the 5000 series or a comparable shock that is Rancho's entry level shock (I am not a fan of the 5000's). The 9000's are the best shock hands down I have personally owned. I also like the Bilsteins, but for what I wanted (leveling capabilities) the Ranchos are a great choice.

Lariat rides much smoother than the FX4's. I have a Lariat and the ride is very smooth. FX4 with the Rancho shocks is tighter as my dad has one of those. Same 5.4 liter in both but it seemed that the FX4 has different shift points than the Lariat. Anyone else notice this?
