Tire Recall...
Tire Recall...
I posted this a while back. My question is, what will ford do if you have already paid to upgrade your tires due to the driveability of the OE's. I still have the receipt and replaced the tires at 1700 miles due to the stock crap. The tire shop kept the old ones and gave me thirty bucks per tire for the trade in's. Will they refund a portion of the Nitto T/G's I bought? I had the Generals.

That's Continental's barbeque, not Ford's. You need to take that up with Continental. Certain Continental/General tires may have been replaced under a Ford TSB for rapid/uneven wear, but not recalled for replacement regardless.
You had General Amertrec TRs, not ContiTrac TRs. Very few F-150s came with the conti's and thats because of a national backorder on the General TRs.
Your tires were not recalled, you replaced them yourself because you wanted to. I would not be able to send in that clame. Hell I know how ford works, we sold them more tires last year then any other dealer in the country.

Take it easy man, don't get so upset, it is Christmas Eve. I didn't think my question would make you blow a gasket.
I was wrong, it is Continental not Ford who is dealing with the recall. Yes I replaced the tires by choice, because they were, and still are cr^p. Are you so honest, that if given the chance you would not take a check from Conti. for a few hundred bucks for putting this junk tire out. I have owned, not leased, five new Fords in the past nine years. My wife's 2003 Ford Escape Limited came with Conti. Contitrac SUV tires. These were also cr^p and were replaced shortly after buying the SUV. So I feel that I have put enough money into both Ford and Conti. to warrant a check if my original tires are recalled. I don't feel like I would be cheating Conti. I was just a little quicker to recognize a problem and correct it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS :santa:

You aren't cheating Continental, at least I don't think so, 'cause Continental tires are horrible. They've single handledly caused more NVH problems in Ford pickups and SUVs than I can think of. Just saying, you might want to try taking your claim up directly with Continental/General.
unless ford lanchs a specfic recall on general, hancook, contenental, were out of luck, I put in a complaint to transport Canada pertaining to the hancook tires, Ford dealer was no good, I kept the remaining three hancooks after replacing 2 hancooks that lasted two weeks, Ford is so Slow to respond, several thousand people will have to die in A tire related incident ( not accident ) on A Ford F-150...A.K.A Explorer.
replaced with LT 265 70 17 BFG RT TA

Im not upset, just stateing facts. I guess the interweb has a way of makeing things look bad
.I'll give you that the ContiTrac tires are junk. Theres no doubt in my mind on that side of things but dealers buy them because they are OE and many people come in wanting nothing more then OE tires. As for the Amertrec TRs that came on our trucks, the only problem I have with them is that they are to damn small for the big wheel wells, but that was fords brainstorm.
Mine are wareing very well and grip the snow good still after 10,000 miles. I have never even pulled them off to balance them and I have no vibration. (While Im on this, Im not sold on road force balanceing, theres enough evidence to show it really does nothing more then a good quality balancer).
With tires, like everything else, it comes down to a matter of what you like. The generals dont bother me, so they will stay on for now. I did order a set of 285/70-17D BFG ATs to put on, but that was more to fill the wheel wells then anything, plus I have run BFGs on many trucks and love em.
