Coolest location for HomeLink Module ?? (other than Visor and Overhead console)

Hi Guys,

Just picked up a Ford visor with HomeLink system in it (visor not from F-150) and have removed it from the visor.

I am looking for suggestions for a better location for it and would appreciate any ideas or photos from anyone that has installed it in different locations. I have seen mentions in other threads I have searched putting it in the over head console area, but I have a sunroof and don't desire to start making mods to the headliner for fear of headliner rattles (I am aware of the Headliner TSB) .

My first thought was to custom mount the buttons/Led in the blank area beside the Cig Lighter, but since the buttons are on the top part of the module it would have to stick down into the ashtray system area and won't fit. Another area is to custom mount it where the Message Center buttons are on a Lariat (mine is an FX4 so no buttons there)...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all of you!!

I have a moonroof. The dealer put mine on the ceiling between the moon roof and the visor. I actually kinda like it there because you never notice it, and it doesn't get in the way on the visor.

Sure don't. I'll snap some pics tomorrow though and post them in this thread for you. Tonights going to be a busy night.

I have mine on the black rubber matt, but I'm thinking of putting it in the pillar. I have another use for the dash real estate, and hiding it in the pillar is my next thought.

That is quite a clever spot to put it, I have a lot of trouble with my homelink, it takes two pushes to activate the garage or one push held down for a full second or so. Anyone experience this problem before.

One push held for a few seconds is common.

It seems to depend on the receiver. My Genie garage door opens from hundreds of feet, with the slightest push. My Linear power gate takes a one second push, or sometimes two pushes, and has a range of only about 100 feet on one side, and about 50 on the other.
I have a Stanley door at another location that reacts somewhere in between. So I think it is more a matter of what you are powering.
