Its the loudest Flowmaster muffler made. The sound is perfect for me, and I wanted something loud. Im thinking about doing headers only to make it a little louder. I didn't lose any bottom end like some said, and I definatly can feel a difference in power. BTW the tips are 3.5"

The 3M Clear Bra was put on by the dealer I bought it from so I can't tell you much about it. I only have it on the front upper bumper but its holding up great. I usually wash my truck about every other day but it always gets dirty that night or next day.

So its the flowmaster 40 series? they also make the super 40 but I heard it is quieter. To my knowledge the 40 series muffler is the loudest flowmaster that is for street use. If it is perfect sounding just like you like it, why would you be considering putting headers on to make it louder? Headers will change your sound completely. It will be a bit louder and a bit more growly, but I don't think you'll like the sound. It's not as smooth a sound as the muffler alone makes. If you want it louder and keep the good sound tone, I'd probably look into the imco extreme muffler for $40. fourpointsix rated it as a 10 on the volume scale and rated flowmaster as a 6, and he's had both on his truck.

Actually, I was asking the length of your tips??....

By the way, you have 3.73's right? How are the 35's turning and how's the power? What kind of gas mileage are you getting now after the 35's?

Im pretty sure its the 40 series, the guy who did my exhaust said IMCO would kill my bottom end compared to the Flowmaster but I can't say for certain since I don't have any experience with IMCO. I'll measure the length of the tips tomorrow.

I can spin them with ease offroad and can still spin em on pavement, not so much with ease though. I wish I could afford to do 4.56s or 4.88s now but I can't wait to do just a tuner/intake. I was getting 11.2/3 before the exhaust now Im getting 12.2 mpg with a lot more WOT.

Same here, can't say much about mufflers because I don't have any experience w/ them on this truck. Fourpointsix has been a pretty reliable source and he said that both flowmaster 40 and imco extreme seemed to cause a little bit of loss in bottom end, but the imco is a straight through muffler like the magnaflow and the flowmaster is 2 chambered. Seems like the imco would be better. At least you get a little better gas mileage now w/ the muffler. What kind of mileage were you getting when you had the 33's on? What about before you put the 33's on?

I meant to ask you do you have the terra grapplers now or the mud grapplers? They look good, but look like the mud grapplers. Your truck is looking great, I just ordered a few things for mine today but it will be a while before I put anything on since its so cold here all the time now and gets dark so early.

the loss of low end is a myth that hasnt been subtantulized, and the IMCO is also a chambered muffler just like the flowmaster, the IMCO extreem is almost exactly like a one chamber 40 series, i have seen the cutaways of both it is hard to tell the difrence between the two,

I suppose so, but you'd think there is some kind of truth to it since that's what every muffler manufacturer almost makes claims to. The imco extreme is seemingly a 1 chamber muffler that is said to be very loud. There is no such thing as a 1 chamber flowmaster 40 series, not even the super 40 is 1 chambered. Imco does make a 2 chambered muffler like the flowmaster 40 series though, and it is said to sound similar as well.

Looks great Thump. I have been wanting to get mine done forever now but havent got the coins to do it yet. The side exhaust looks sweet and really what I want, but I think the tips would get destroyed right behind my tires from on and offroad debris.
