Quick Question: Exhaust!

I need to know everyones opinion here. My truck is at the exhaust shop as we speak. However the original plan was to put a SI/DO muffler but I've been thinking what about cutting the Y-Pipe out and dualing it into two SI/SO mufflers? Which would sound better/louder?

I have 2 SI/SO flowmasters and it sounds good. But I have also had a SI/DO on a previous truck and I don't think there is much difference in sound. I would probably just stick with the SI/DO if I were you.. Post pics once your done, I wanting to have mine changed from exiting out the rear to exiting in front of the back tire..
Good Luck

Thumper,

If you eliminate the "Y" and do a true Dual exhaust make sure you have a "crossover" , "x" or "H" type balance tube between the 2 exhausts or you will lose power, especially on the bottom end.

When I took my truck in to get a Flowbastard muffler a guy was just getting his new Tundra finished. He came outside and the tech started his truck up and told him it sounded ok. He was convinced that the sound was just like the American V8's. Well the guy asked me if the F150 was mine and he stood around and bs'ing with me until my truck was done. The tech that worked on mine fired it up and the guy did one of those exorcist head spins because he couldn't believe it.

If its not loud enough, spend $40 more and get an imco extreme instead and then get back to us.

Im not exactly sure what muffler hes using, I told him I wanted the loudest that I can get without losing a lot of bottom end. He said it wouldn't be a problem since he wasn't touching the cats. Im going crazy though, it should be done any minute. Im waiting for that phone call, I'll be getting pictures ASAP!

I installed the si/si flowmaster series 50 on my 04 took about 45min, the sound is a little deeper than stock, but the power increase was noticable.
But I wasn't going for to loud where I live the cops are some what ****.

Looks awesome Thumper! Any review on the sound you got? Did you find out what muffler he used?

I have no idea what muffler he used but the sound is perfect and its only going to get better since its not even broke in yet.

17 but I work for a real estate company, as soon as I graduate from high school I'll be getting my real estate license.

Thumper,

You read my mind man, you got the exhaust out the back like I was thinking about doing. It looks pretty good, but I'm still undecided about which way to get it, like yours or straight out the rear. What size tips you got? I was going to get 22" tips but not sure if that's necessary. So find out what exhaust you got!! How would you describe the sound? I bet he probably put a flowmaster on it. That's great that you have an exhaust guy who you can tell 'I want it like ____" and he does it perfectly. Man, can you get us some good sound clips of your truck? I need help on that because I'm about to order a muffler. But find out what it is!

Also, what is the 3m clear bra thing on your truck? I've heard of it before and realize it is to protect the paint, but where did you get it? How much $? How do you put it on? Do you just have it on your hood or where? Also, how do you have time to keep your truck clean? It takes me forever to wash and detail mine. It sucks, one of the worst vehicles I've ever washed and detailed, and I used to have an auto detail business.
