06 Engine Question

I opened the hood for the first time today and noticed there isn't a plastic cover over the throttle body. (4.6) My old 98 and 02 had a plastic cover with triton on it covering the throttle body and linkage.

Does ford no longer put these covers on the engine?

Looks kinda odd with just the air pipe going into the throttle body.

Maybe that is their feeble attempts at weight reduction since these trucks weigh 10 tons!

Ford gave some lame excuse about "underhood heat management" for deleting engine covers on some Crown Vics and Grand Marquis. I think they really mean "cost savings."
