Question Exhaust Locations: Side Exit IRT

As many of you know, Im in the process of deciding what exhaust set-up to go with. Im thinking right now to just keep it simple and get the exhaust exit'ing dual tips in front of the rear tire. Now for a few questions. . .

- How do you think it will look?
- Do you think I'll run into any problems with it dis-coloring my wheel?

Thumper,

I have the Gibson Super Truck exhaust since Mar 05. IMO I like the looks and have had no problems with discoloration of my Right rear wheel.

First of all, good looking truck. I think it would look good too. Have you considered running single out the rear? I did it on my 05 KR and it looks good, really good. I also like it because it is different.
As for the discoloration, you might be able to get on the lightning or harley forum's and ask them if they have any.
Good luck!

I had a lightning from 2001-2004 and the exhaust did discolor the wheels.

Hey Thump

I too have been throwing this around in my head.
I love the dual's out the back, but I think the tips need to be larger and I don't want to spend the extra $$$ on another set.
I like the idea of dual's coming out one side.
Magnaflow make's that style. I think it exit's behind the tire.

I think its going to look awesome!

Magnaflow's dual side exit is in front of the tire, I have it.

again, talking about wheel discoloration, I noticed nothing on my wheels after 17 months/14k miles of use.

Thanks Steve

Just took a look over at Magnaflow and your right.
Do you have pics in your gallery?
Does any other manufacture make a dual coming out the same side?

Thumper,
My '97 had single side exhaust in from of the wheel factory. I put about 170K on that truck with never seeing any discoloration of the wheel. Nowadays, I think that if you see discoloration, you are either driving a PSD or every emissions light should be brinking. I loved the look of that setup on my old '82 beater. Oh, I miss it, but not the mileage (7-8 mpg, 400). I think that it is a great setup.

Can anyone get me a part number for the Magnaflow kit?

Lastly, I need to know where the kit starts. Reason being is Im throwing around the idea of having the two rear cats removed. Any reason why I can't?
