Cold start condition in my f150

I have a 2004 f150 5.4 3v. When its cold out and I first start the engine i hear a slight tapping noise for about a minute and then it goes away. I am running mobile 1 5w20 and a mobile 1 oil filter. Has any one had this same problem? This happens when the truck sits for about 5 days

Mine does it too, except when it's fully warmed up!

I don't, and I am using the same oil/filter combo.... Course it never sits for 5 days though.....the top end is probably pretty dry after sitting for a few days...

It was more a figure of speech than it was hard core fact. This issue has been beat to death here.

If you don't notice the problem then have someone cold start your truck while you stand infront of it. These quite cabs are nice for hiding noise.

Nearly every Ford mod motor Ive ever heard/driven has ticked/knocked on cold startup, especially after after kind of miles on the engine. Unfortunatly, this gets worse with higher miles, Im driving a 2000 Expy at work with a 5.4 and it nearly sounds like its got a spun bearing the knock is so loud at cold startup. I just let the F'er eat and it'll probably die soon. Sad, its only a 2000 with just over 102K miles. These mod motors honestly suck to be quite frank.
