PIE Power Supply

I just bought my PIE adaptor off ebay ($78.75 with free shipping). I travel a lot for business, which means I leave the trucked parked for weeks at a time. I know that many of you have plugged your PIE adaptor into the cig lighter, but I need a switched power supply so the battery won't run down. What's a good switched source under the dash? Thanks!

He's correct. The yellow/green wire is a 12volt switched. You can also tap into the black/green (not 100% sure of this) as a ground wire.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I never owned a Ford all my life until 2 days ago.

What is a PIE adapter?

Thanks,

So I'm confused...should it be powered to the always hot or the switched hot? This install business is so confusing for an amateur. If someone could flat out tell me what color wires I connect what color wires too, I'd appreciate it. I've seen so many different ways. There was another thread mentioning something about a delayed hot??? So it stays on w/ the radio if you shut the ignition off but don't open the doors... Then another where the PIE drains the battery if it's hooked up a certain way...

It is personal preference to which way you want it to be hooked up. I'll quote myself....Tap into the yellow/green wire on the radio harness if you want it switched (that is as long as your radio works so will your satellite radio). Tap into the cig lighter wires if you want it to constantly stay on 24/7.

Is there any problem with connecting both the sat radio AND the PIE power to the switched power from the radio?

I thought the PIE needed a constant power source to work properly. I installed my last week, and the directions clearly require you to use a constant-on source. I believe this is because the factory radio will "forget" that the PIE is installed when the power is cut.

Thanks for the info. Haven't received my PIE yet in the mail so haven't read the directions yet but i've hearded that it is suppose to be hot all the time. I may throw a switch on the power of the PIE so it doesn't draw power if I'm not using the vehicle for a while such as parked at the airport.

I got my P.I.E. adapter. I love it! I ran the power to the power on the radio. This way it shuts down when the ignition is off and door is open. This way I don't drain anything.

No problems with wiring. My display reads AUX - not PIE. But that's alright with me.
