Need opinions on Borla

My mind was made up on putting Gibson on my truck. (05 5.4) I was able to Gibson on an F150, maybe a 98 or 99? It was duals out the rear. To me it wasn't much louder then stock. I used to have a 99 with Magnaflow. I don't want my new truck as loud as my 99 was. I read somewhere that the Borla has no cabin drone? If not, that is what I want. I most likely will go with the single side exit. What I am after is performance, with a little bit of sound. Is the Borla the way to go? Thanks, Eric

From what I've read on here Borla, Bassani and Corsa all offer excellent performance and are quieter than Magnaflow.

I have the Borla catback SIDO the back on an 05 Lariat screw. Nice mellow rumble, same part number for the 05 F150 as the 05 Mustang GT. No cabin drone at all.

I have teh Borlas SI/SO. It is very quiet on normal acceleration with no drone IMO. At highway cruise is is very quiet. Deepr rumble on acceleration, but quiet. Obviously some noise at WOT, but not obnoxious.

I have the Borla SIDO and love it. Can't say anything bad about the others because I haven't heard them but I wouldn't hesitate going with Borla again. The only drone I get is when I am going down the highway and I lose speed and the cruise kicks in and I hear that cold air intake sucking wind. Shop around and go with Borla you won't regret it.

Borla seems to fit all of your requirements.

Looks a million $$$'s .. .. .. High quality T304 aircraft stainless steel .. .. .. Awesome polished tips your girl could use to apply her make-up on .. .. .. NO cabin drone whatsoever .. .. .. Nice "throaty" deep [yet mellow] exhaust note .. .. .. Fit and overall finish is second to none and a true bolt-on!

However .. .. ..

I think it's a little overpriced [Up to $900.00 plus change, plus shipping] and severely lacks in DB's in my humble opinion.

It was the first very exhaust I tried on my '04 GTO .. .. .. it lasted all of three weeks! I had no problem with the quality, fit and finish of the product as I installed it myself The "musclecar tone" and "quitenesss" was a different story. It didn't have the "musclecar tone" I had hoped and it certainly was "quite" .. .. .. more so than the STOCK system. Go figure. Let's call a spade, a spade, here. Most [majority] people cat-back for sound [volume]. The Borla, as good as it was in appearence, didn't exactly live up to its recommendations in terms of sound.

I close work buddy has the Borla [HERE ] installed on his '04 Lariat Scab 5.4L. At idle, you can barely hear the thing running. Normal driving, there seems to be a [ever-so] slight "purrr" to it. Under WOT, it's audible, but by no means to the caliber of a Magnaflow or a Flowmaster. However, it had absolutely no cabin drone whatsoever . . . but then again, neither does the stock '04 Lariat Scab 5.4L system, right? Horsepower increase from just a [any] cat-back? The jury's still out on that one.

Anyway, I'm not knocking the product. I think I've made this definite. I just don't believe it'll fit the decibel "requirements" of the "majority" of those installing cat-backs and is a tad overpriced all things considered.

I leave you with this: The best recommendation I can forward is to hear the exhaust ON the vehicle of your preference IN person! Don't count on posted sound/video clips on the Borla website or anywhere else. The sound/video clips' accuracy is next to no indication of how the actual product will sound in person. I did that [purchased blindly] before purchasing my Borla for the GTO and it sounded almost nothing like I was anticipating or listened to online. Live and learn I guess.

Good luck.

I could not get any closer in what I want in a exhaust. It sounds exactly like a truck should sound. Just a good clean sound, no cab drone, no wind sucking sound, not ear busting loud.

Fellas......Do some shopping! I just looked at my favorite web page for auto accessories Driverfx If I made the correct selections on the drop down boxes, you can get a Borla SISO (part number 140086...thats for a 2004 F150, I assume it is the same number for a 2005) delivered to your door for $477.46. I ordered my Borla system from them over a year ago. Very happy with the service.

The promotion code word is..... blackfriday I would double check the part number, then order quickly before change the promotion code.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess Borla is the way to go. I am not sure if i want duals or single outlet? Is there an advantage to either one? I heard at some points duals to the rear are not good if you pull a trailer, which I do? But there is a big difference in price as well. I just need to find the best place to order it from? (in a month or so yet) Thanks again guys.

Borla DOR Exhaust

I've had Borla on my truck now for about year. Purchased from truckperformance.com fast shipping, great service. The exhaust system is fantastic. Very quiet at cruising speed but definetly louder and deeper than stock under acceleration. Install was very easy, hardest part was getting factory exhaust system off while truck was on the ground. Took a couple of hours. On start up exhaust sound awesome and makes the rear of the truck aggressive looking which is what I was looking for.

Borla has never been a horsepower leader among the mustang crowd. I always stuck with Mac products.

I have the Borla (Dual Exhaust out the back) and I love it. It was an easy install and sounds like it should. There is No Cabin Drone. I looks nice also. I didn't care for these small pipes that you see on some. This is a nice look.
