Newbie Ipod, headunit question

Ok..i've seen threads talking about mounting an ipod and what not. Well now im gonna get one for christmas. Does the ipod connect directly to the stock head unit or what? thanks

I'm confused...

I understand the power end of it. I don't understand how the iPod connects to the RCA jacks? Will that run the iPod through the radio?

I'm waiting for the iPod2Car adaptor. It allows you to connect your iPod directly to the factory radio and control it using the buttons on the headunit. It will be released within the next 3 months according to the guys at Peripheral Electronics.

I went with one of these, you still need the RCA to 3.5mm mini jack cable.
