Installed AS 2" Leveling kit today..yay!
Pics and stuff later.. first, I'm getting a clunk whenever I go over a speed bump or dramatic bump in the road?? Is this always going to be there or is something wrong??
EDIT: This is definitely NOT a BASH AutoSpring thread. They are simply the best in service and product.. Please don't assume that's where this thread is going.

Just annoyed with the clunkage. I hope I can get used to it. Odd that a Daystar won't do it, but an AS will..

That daystar is held into place I'd think while the AS just sitting there has room & moves..
Better seating comfort?...oooh! It feel any different on your back? I've noticed my lumbar area pushes out too far making it uncomfortable...I spose a different position could help

).. It doesn't feel better, as in comfort.. but feels better as in higher and more straight forward..You make a good point RE: AS vs Daystar. Maybe I should have gotten Daystar (DOH). However, I don't think the AS can move around? It's bolted to the top of the strut tower assy, then shoved back into the spot, and bolted right into the top brace.. I don't see how it could move?
I just hope its not the upper control arm or something.
AutoSpring clunk is caused by uper control arm striking the coil spring at full suspension extension. Kevin at AutoSpring said they redesigned the spacer to eliminate this problem.
The new design has an offset built into it to space the upper control arm away from the spring. Did you get the new design or the original design?

Well, I paid for the new design.

I received the old design. *sigh* I guess I'll be emailing Kevin.
When i have my 2" ez lift installed by someone, i have the same noise like you have. I rechecked all the nuts and bolts and found out that the top 3 nuts that holds the strut to the spacer are not even finger tight. I retighten everything and it's much better now. I still hear some klunk once in a while.
3 Nuts on top of strut assy are still good. Just went out to verify, and torqued them again.. All but one were perfect, one could turn another 1/4" or so and then was good.
Pics are in my gallery.

Note: Per my measurements, however accurate they are, I netted about 2.5" inches out of my 2" kit!

I installed the 2.5" autospring leveling kit on my '04 4x2 F150 back in February of this year. I ordered the old/original design and did all the work myself. I have not had a single problem with this kit even after 16,000 miles of road testing.
I am not experiencing any "clunking" noise, nor am I experiencing any rubbing of the coilover with any part of the suspension. There is absolutly no movement within the spacer as it is bolted into the factory location and torqured to spec.
I suggest that you go over the entire front suspesion and make sure that all fasterners are secured and torqured to factory specifications. Remember that some have the nylon lock nuts which may feel tight to the finger but are not fully secured.
Also I suggest that you get a front-end alignment as soon as possible (you may have already done this but you did'nt mention it in your original post). This may be the source of the noise that you are experiencing.

Ox.

I agree. I have the 2" autospring installed on my 2005 STX 4X2. There is absolutely no clunging at all when going over bumps. Something is not torqued properly. I suggest you recheck everything.
I recommend it, and love it to death.... but just need to get over this clunking.
After the install, it went straight to the shop for alignment; so alignment done.
I'll throw it back on the lift as soon as physically possible to check all the bolts. I'm sure its somewhere... but so far everything I checked is torqued to spec.
My only nervous location is the upper ball joint.. That thing was a pain in the @ss to tighten back up..but I can't check it until I get the tires back off..

It helps.. but it won't be needed for the 255lb torque.
I think I found the problem. It was killing me sitting here thinking about it. Checked all the nuts, and checked the sway bar link nuts (under the control arm), and on the driver side it was extremely loose (nearly 1/2" from its tightest spot.. I'm almost 100% confident that this will fix it. I'll find out in about 10 minutes when I take it around the block..
