Truck stall entering car wash
Truck stall entering car wash
I took my truck in to wash the salt off it last night and it stalled when I entered the car wash. It's one of those automatic washes that does the underbody. I've had this happen once before and it only seems to occur when it is really cold out side (was about 10 degrees when I drove it over to wash it). Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this? It will start back up without a problem, but stalls as I am going over the underbody wash sprayers.
I have a K&N CAI and thought maybe that was icing over and starving the engine and causing it, but now I'm not so sure. Any ideas?

That;s actually happened to me twice last winter. Truck starts fine no warning or anything when it stalls though. I thought that mybe the maf couldn't adjust fast enough for the instantly warmer air coming into the engine.?? Just a thought. I have an airaid intake on my truck.
Never thought about the MAF sensor. Good thought though, thanks! It only happens when it is really cold out, so it's not something I'm too worried about since it will start back up no problem.
Unless it sprays hot water here is my theory:
if it sprays the under body if the warm headers/ exaust go through a rapid temp change it will stall the motor b.c the computer freaks out.
I had a freind's car go through a cold deep rainy puddle and her car stalled and she got all freaked out but it started right back up. try increasing the rpms slightly before the water starts. Maybe in the ball park of 1500 rpms should do the trick.
