FWIW, on trucks that came with the vibration dampner, sometimes when chasing down another vibration I've pulled the dampner off just for poops and giggles and it didn't make a lick of difference positive or negative. I think Ford just started sticking them on '05+ trucks for the CYA factor. The dampner seems to help more on trucks that didn't have it from the factory.

 

Interesting. I still don't think it'd be wise of me to play with it though. I can just imagine what could happen, no matter how low of a chance it'd be.

I remove the dampner and it rides fine for a few weeks and then I get the vibe. So I put the dampner back on and it doesn't help fix the problem. So then I take it to Ford and somebody can tell that the dampner has been off. That gets blamed and I'm SOL.

The tips don't look that bad being farther down.

What exactly is the resonator? I know what a resonator is and all, but have never seen it on a magnaflow exhaust. It's a seperate piece I imagine. Where does it go? And how much does it cost?
I'm getting a magnaflow muffler for Christmas and might consider getting that if it cuts most of the annoying noise out. I'm getting a 22" muffler though, which I believe is quieter than the 18", so now I'm not sure.

 

The resonator goes right before the muffler and helps muffle (for lack of a better term) the sound. I have an 18 which I think is a little loud for daily driving. The 22 should be fine. The resonator is about $48.
