push button start
Remote starter operation
Just to add a little more info on the override for the key that the remote start adds.
1.) Yes, the truck will start without the key in the ignition, but as soon as the remote start system is activated, the doors automatically lock and the alarm is activated. To enter the truck, you must use the supplied keyfob (same one that activates the remote start) to unlock the doors (which also deactivates the alarm system).
2.) If the alarm system is not deactivated with the supplied keyfob, the truck cannot be entered without setting off the alarm system. In other words, if you use the key to unlock the doors or the keypad, the alarm system will immediately go off.
3.) Even if the remote start system is activated while inside the vehicle, it is deactivated as soon as you press the brake pedal (and you cannot shift into gear without pressing the brake pedal).
So, no, you cannot actually drive the vehicle with this system, you still have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on (at least as it is wired at the dealer). Even if you could override the brake pedal control so that the truck could be put into gear and driven down the road without the key, the system times out after 15 minutes and shuts the truck off.
Hope this helps out a little.

I had push button start on my old fifties trucks. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why I would want that on my new truck. Now, the foot controlled dimmer, that might be neat, every now and then I stomp the floor with my left foot to dim the lights.
Still have it in my 65 Mustang.

Smarter and cooler setup is to run only on "Push button" mode; like those on Vettes and Lexus' with smart key fob. Now this might be way over our head in terms of tech spec...but hey since the topic is out about, why not mention it.
I installed one of these in my BMW, and it was super sweet for about the first week, then you just forget about it. Personally, I would say save your money!!! Use this $100 on something else.
Most of time people get in your car, and you say, "Check this out!" And you hit the button and they say "Neat."
So, I agree with all of you that it is damn cool but it wears off fast!!

How will you turn the truck on....turning the starter if the ignition is not on is useless. A even better question...how would you switch it off??? Another button???

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 also has a push button start setup. When I test drove a used one the sales man couldn't figure out how to crank it until I showed him...
