what size tires with 2.5 lift

I been reading alot on here lately on the 2.5 leveling and the autospring looks like the way to go with the new offset. I bought a new 2005 supercab yesterday. and have been looking at lifts and tires. Ive think ive settled on 18's and so far it looks like my tire choice is limted to a bfg in a 285-65-18 which is 32.6 inches tall and a nitto 325-60-18 which is 33x 13. is this the only options for a 33. and the rims im looking at are +40 with a 6 bs. has anyone done this yet and have pics.

Thanks in advance

Dale

ps my last truck was 03 f150 with a 6 inch lift and 35 1250's and after riding in this new one I not real fond of giving up the nice ride lol....

I think your backspacing is too much on the wheel you're looking at. the factory is 5.5 and some people have complained of rubbing so the wheel you're looking at with 6" of BS MAY be too much.I have the autospring leveling kit 2.5" with toyo mud terrains 33's on 18x9.5 wheel with a -24 offset with 4.25 BS and they rub on full turns but this could be due to my front winch bumper being heavier bringing the truck down and offset wheel combination. I chose this offset due to me lifting my truck in the future. I know that 35's would not have fit without some serious rubing. Many would agree that they would not recommend 35's without a full lift due to power loss and rubing. Some other guys are running 35's on the factory wheels with no problems. There are not many options on the 18" wheel size. As you posted the Open country AT and Nitto in 325/60-18 the BFG 285/65-18 and the Toyo Mud terrain in 33-12.50-18. I just purchased tires and was in the market myself and thought that the 18" tires are the BASTARD tires due to few options available for them. BUT you can find just about anything in 20's. Still, I ended up with 18" wheel 33's from TOYO and LVOE the set-up. A popular tire has been the Nitto Terra grappler and it is priced about 220. www.discounttiredirect.com Good luck, hope the info helps.

thanks for your info I'm going to look at your gallery hope you have some pics of your setup. do you think the 18x8 plus 40 .. 6 backspace rim on 33's will be alright? ive seen the 4.5 bs and dont want my tires to stick out that far and I'd like them to be close to being covered.. oh and how did this effect you ride?

thanks again

Sorry I don't have picks of the setup yet. But hope to very soon I just had the work done wednesday and the weather has been crappy. I would just be careful with the backspace on the wheel. The factory wheel is 5.5 and some guys have said their tires rub on the control arms. I think 6 MIGHT be too much for backspace specially if 5.5 rubbed with the tire on and 33's aren't small, BUT I am not 100% sure. The guys can put the wheel on your truck to see if there will be any issues, it usually is not until after the tires are mounted that you cannot change your mind. The ride for my vehicle seems firmer. The load rating is higher than the factory tire so the tire is heavier but I like the width and the look and am extremely pleased. WANDELL( a member of this forum) has helped alot of guys(including me) with tire/wheel questions on the wheel and tire threads, he seems to know his stuff. Try looking in that thread for something that may help. I think the 18x8 would be great with close to a 5.5 backspace, would be perfect. Good luck.

Mine stick out a few inches because when I get my lift i need to have a wider stance so that i won't easily roll-over. I believe the factory offset is at 44. but backspacing is at 5.5. Here's some info i found for explanations if needed

http://www.1010tires.com/glossary.asp

http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?type=wheels#offset

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoWheelOffsets.dos

If you want to put bigger, wider tires, i would stay close to the factory backspace or right under it 4.75-5.5 backspace or you may have rubbing issues. Better safe than sorry and make an expensive mistake. Remember That they can put the wheel on your truck and show you how it looks BEFORE you buy it. They just can't mount a tire on it unless it's sold.

I think you would be fine with an 18x8 with 6 inches of backspacing. My 22x9.5's on my Expy have 6.7 inches of backspacing.

Guys, correct me if Im wrong but you also need to pay attention to BOTH wheel width AND backspacing.

So just remember stock wheels might be 5.5" of backspacing but they are also only 7.5" wide.

I was able to fit 325/60/18 Terra Grapplers on my Helo Maxx 6s with only a Daystar 2.5" kit. FYI Helo Maxx 6s are 9" wide and also have 5.5" of backspacing.

Ive noticed in my search for wheels and tires that there are more choices in tires in 17's but the rim choices are less.

I think they will be fine. The just won't "stick out" anymore than your OEM wheels.

At the moment I just have the 2.5" Autospring and I fit some 35x13.50r20 on a set of Eagle Alloy 114s 20x8.5 with a +20mm offset and 5.475" backspacing. I just had to do a little trimming off of the front lower valance and a little where the fender flare meets the bottom of the truck. I got the 35s in case I ever decided to put a real lift on the truck and I didn't want to have to get new tires again. Of course I'll probably get some 37s at that point and then there goes my brilliant plan!

Think they'd fit on 2" autospring? How wide did they stick out compared to factory width?

They probally will, but you'll have to trim the black plastic fender piece a little on one side. No big deal though.
