Easiest way to find out is to pull the bezel around the radio out and look. It seems that some trucks have this connector that shouldnt (like regular cabs) and others that you think would have the plug (supercab/supercrews with the power package) that don't.

if you don't, it isn't terribly difficult to wire it into the current shifter's wiring.

Also, have you considered replacing your dash? I know its a pain in the ****, but it'll make the flow through look alot nicer than if you leave it and try to plug the gap.

I think I'm going to tackle this project in my STX next spring when the weather starts getting nicer again... going to do an entire interior overhaul.

Quick question.. Why would somebody WANT to convert to a flow through console? I'm not ******* anyone who wants it, but I have it stock and always liked the look of the shifter in the floor. I guess everyone has their own opinions on what looks good which is why you see so many awesome but completely different trucks on here!

I prefer having the shifter on the console vs on the steering column... plus, you don't have the squeaky cup holders... and the middle seat in front is never utilized for seating, its impractical.

Meanie,

I intend to pull the dash and check for the harness within the next little while (next few weeks...think my project, too, shall fall dormant during the winter months), I was just wondering if any '04-'08 STX owners had ever finished this project. I know I've seen a ton of STX'ers START the Flow Thru/Shifter mod, only to disappear from the forums before finishing. Hey, maybe I'll be the first! Lol

I did check with a local Ford dealer about pricing the harness and $863.00 later they were picking me up off the floor. It wasn't just the connector, it was about 1/6 of the wiring throughout the truck. So tapping wires seems the next best viable solution.

And finally, I can't find ANY wrecked '04+ body wrecks here in north Mississippi, and I don't have $800-$1,000 to drop on a new dash right now. The box I built is almost identical to pa_wolf's, and once covered, will fit in with the rest of the console/dash nicely. My main praise for it is the fact that the console no longer "spreads it legs" upfront (I decided to not buy the front bracket) and does not want to move. With every OEM addition, it is feeling increasingly sturdy. good lick, if you decide to go through with this project. Fun but time consuming.

Oh, and Lariat? I wont speak for others, but I want to do it because I simply like the look of the floor shifter vs. column. Think it spruces up the truck quite a bit.

here are two dashes I found on eBay. They're located in Wisconsin, which works great for me, but it looks like they'll ship em' too.

Oh man I'm an idiot.. I was reading the first posts from 05 and it sounded like they were going FROM the floor shifter TO the column shifter. I have the column shifter too but I'm with you DSG I would rather have the floor shifter. Probably not bad enough to do the mod though! Haha

Lol it's all good. I just now saw it, so don't tell off on yourself

Meanie, from one STX to the next I love ya but I have 0 coin to drop on that during the holidays. Maybe you'll win one, though, and get to start on your project.

Oh no....I just typed that I have 0 mod money--am I gonna get booted off here now?

HaHaHaHa.....I'm still alive!! Been faithful here since 2005! Haven't posted much in past few years BUT I still have my truck and the Flow Thru Dash mod has been goin strong since. Not one issue with the wiring or anything else. This only resulting from the folks on this great board and especially FX4&HARLEY....where ever he may be.....It will be 7 years in May that I've had my truck and just as excited about it now as I was back in 2005. I hope everything goes well with your mods!

Thanks FX...I finally pulled the radio bezel tonight, and no white connector under the radio. I did find a black 10-pin connector on the LEFT side of that space--anyone have an idea about what that is used for? Maybe something to do with the Audiophile sound set-up (which my truck also doesn't have)?

Hey does anyone know if the harness unplugs from the dash harness? Might have a line on one, if it unplugs...

Whoo Hoo! I believe I found a harness that will come with 3-4 inches of wire, so I can simply splice the harness into my truck's wiring and I'll be good to go.

If I can find a FT dash that would fit my truck for cheap, I will have an almost stock set-up.
