Oxygen sensor replacement
Oxygen sensor replacement
has anyone here replaced their upstream oxygen sensor? Cause the connector on upstream sensor on the passeneger side is hard to get to. I was wondering if anyone had or found a easy way to do this?
Havent look at it on the new models but if it's like the 97-03 the passenger side is a little harder than the driver side. You can either take you wheel off or turn the wheel in. They are a pain in the butt regardless. They shouldnt need changing unless you got hella-miles or you burned them up. Let me know if you need any more help. I'll take a look at mine tomorrow if you need me to.
thanks for the reply,
I need to replace them caue I am running a performance tune and have over 50k miles on my F150. The actually sensor on the passenger is not hard to get to its the connector thats hard to reach. Let me know what you find out
Thanks

Yeah it was the same way on the older models. You got to get under and follow it up. There is a little clip on the top of the connector. What i do is take a thin long flat head and pry them apart after i pushed the clip in. YOu can also cut the tie holding it in place and then re-support it after you finish. Once you get the old ones off it's a breeze from there. I did mine in my older truck in about 35 minutes including putting the tools up. I go out and look tomorrow to see if anything has changed. Good luck
Hey Myc2004, did you ever get that O2 sensor replaced? I need to replace the same one (passenger side upstream) and am having a heck of a time both getting the sensor out or getting to the connector. I finally got the connector off, but even with the O2 sensor socket rented from Kragen I can't get a good angle to attach the breaker bar or ratchet. It's so tight up in there that I can't get at the upper connector to put the O2 connector back on. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
