Gas gauge

Filled the tank tonight and stopped at a few places on the way home, never checked the gauge since I knew it was full. On final stretch home, look down and it's at 1/4 tank when I got home it was 1/3 tank. I doubt I'm getting 1 mile per 8 gallons. I tapped on the dashboard and shook the truck back n forth pretty good. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with with their gauge? Not sure what's in the tank, I'm assuming it's a float.

Did you have the ignition in the on position while refueling? This will cause a false reading.

It has happened to me...It will eventually go to the full mark..Sometimes I get a false reading after being parked on an incline for a while...my speedometer screwed up 3 days after I bought mine also...wouldn't go down past 20mph...

Been a long day, started off with minor car accident and ended up with this. I was at the car wash and sprayin up in the wheel wells, maybe I got a relay wet. Just checked it now and it went up to half way. If it is water it'll freeze before it dries, it's about 32 here now. Have to take a lil trip tomorrow, just have to keep an eye on the odometer I guess.
